It’s a crap attack before people were informed of the reason behind it. For people to double down is abhorrent and pathetic. This thread being a classic example.
FYI... Saturday morning gym trip and Church at home on Sundays - the two unmovable events in Theresa May's diary | The Sun I really don't think Starmer's put his foot in his mouth at all. It's inconsequential really, but if anything it'll win him more votes than it costs him.
There's a difference between an aide responsible for organising May's diary indicating it, and Starmer announcing to the nation that come what may, he won't be at the helm on Friday nights. I doubt he meant it. It came out wrong
They partied , they bet on elections , they crashed the economy, they broke every public service, they destroyed integrity and honesty in public office , they paid their mates billions , they put their friends in the House of Lords, they gave their cronies knighthoods, they went into the jungle , they lied again and again, they were convicted by police, they went on holiday when they shouldn’t and they have the cheek to question Keir Starmer’s work ethic. I would never take anything for granted but I hope they are annihilated on Thursday. The worst people and government we have ever had! Gary Neville on X
Can’t disagree or argue with much of that. However, let’s hope it’s not a case of words like ‘frying’, ‘pan’ and ‘fire’ The blanket 20mph speed limits - I’ve read that there is up to a £9 billion cost burden to the Welsh economy as a result of this measure. It’s not as if the Welsh economy can afford that! NHS Wales is worse on most measures than in England. Average wage is below that of Scotland, yet was equal at time of Devolution. The First Minister lost a vote of confidence yet refused to step down. Wales has the highest business rates of anywhere in Britain, made worse by the Welsh Government’s recent decision to reduce business rates support from 75% to 40%. Is this something that you want copied in England, as Starmer has stated time and again that he intends doing? I really, really do hope that the quality of Labour MPs and the policies and decision making of a Labour Government in Westminster will be far superior to what we have in Wales
And, sadly, the educational standards in both Wales and Scotland have dropped compared to England PS sorry! just seen what was at the top of your post!!
The Welsh government is reliant on the UK government for 80% of its funding. I suspect that the Tory UK government has been less than generous towards the Labour administration in Wales. They've also failed to replace lost EU funding.... Written Statement: Loss of funding to Wales as a result of the UK Government’s arrangements for replacement EU funding (4 May 2022) | GOV.WALES
Every time Sunak or another Tory opens their mouth, their chances get slimmer and slimmer. Reek of desperation.
Speaking of losing EU funding. I've been working at a farm this week and Brexit has really ****ed this industry. The farmer voted for it aswell. He said they are shutting down the dairy side due to red tape and that without the EU subsidies, farming has no profit in this country at all. Prices will go up, checks on standards down and shelves more bare. Stupid **** for believing the crap.
Don’t forget that for the first 11 years of Devolution there was a Labour Government in Westminster. There has been a noticeable trend here - when things go well, it’s down to Cardiff Bay. When things go badly, it’s all Westminster’s fault. The Welsh Government decides how / where the money is spent, and in addition to the block grant, part of the budget is funded from money raised from devolved taxes. The Welsh Government can also access limited amounts of borrowing. I’ve voted both Labour and Conservative in the past - Labour mostly - but I am not voting this time around as I’ve no faith in either of the two main parties
That's down to Covid and furlough, and has affected most of the world. Labour have been a disaster in Wales, particularly for the kids. Scots are probably worse
