It seems to be one option or the other atm. Under 25 yo or a free like Norwood. It was Evans and Dack recently . I'm suggesting buying a few , not a team full , over 25 yo if it's reasonable and adds value. We might be missing a trick. Let's see if we mix it a bit more this transfer window. ? KS said yesterday we've reviewed our second half to last season.
Not quite the announcements we are waiting for but here are some pics from training. I think they are hinting at a new contract for Clarke
It’s bad business to improve the team? Let’s just continue pissing millions up the wall on kids who’d struggle to get a game in league 2 then, at least we might make a tenner on them somewhere down the line.
Tbf mate that is a massive exaggeration, you're forgetting these kids have just had Michael ****ing beale and mike dodds as their head coach
There's plenty of 21-25 year olds out there that have plenty of appearances behind them who could improve us who we can pay for. The only reason experience has been highlighted so much is because most of the kids we brought in had NO first-team experience at all. I'm pretty sure we were all happy with the quality of Ballard, Hume, Clarke, Roberts, Stewart, Simms, Joffy (to an extent), Alese and more when they came in. If we signed players similar to that who were under 25 we wouldn't be moaning on about experience as those young players would have had plenty of senior games behind them which also counts as experience
Is it though? Mayenda and Triantis went to Hibs and they struggled to get into their first team. Mundle looks like a 14 year old who’s somehow stumbled onto the pitch. Hemir is going to end up getting loaned to a lower league team, Bennette went on loan to Greece and couldn’t get a sniff. How would signing a 30 year old like Norwood, who won’t have any sell on value, be worse for us than signing more young lads who can’t get a game because there’s better young lads already playing in their position?
Jack Clarke was trending on X earlier this morning, via Spurs and Leeds fans talking about Grays move, hoping it's not wasted like Clarkes.
No one is saying that, norwood is available for free and looks like he is joining, wasn't your point, spending money on these ageing players?
Did I say we were going to piss millions of the wall on kids who’d struggle to get a game like? Don’t recall saying that. I think I said let’s get some better young uns than last year.
It's literally just going back to the market we were shopping in, in 22/23. Young players with a lot of senior games behind them
No? I jumped on a discussion about us signing more kids to which someone had asked why can’t we spend money on older players to make a smaller profit and I said why can’t we just spend money on players who improve the squad whether they have sell on value or not. 25 year olds aren’t kids, in response to your previous comment. If we signed 25 year olds with 4/5 seasons at a decent level we wouldn’t be having this discussion. Also all of those players you mentioned were signed in league one when A) there was experience around them to integrate into the team and B) the risk wasn’t as high as it is now.
Triantis made 14 appearances for Hibs and was on the bench 3 times. I wouldn't say he struggled to get in their 1st team I'm quite looking forward to see what he can do as a CDM in our team
Ballard, Alese, Joffy, Simms were all in the champ. I'm very confident that the issue with the young players we signed last year wouldn't be there if they had senior games behind them like the ones mentioned. They'd have been ready much earlier to make an impact
Keeping him and Alese fit would be a massive boost to us. I'd quite like to see us play Alese as part of a back 3 with Cirkin and Hume/Pembele as wing backs.
I'd say Loan Hemir out, Mayenda with the u21s, Mundle can be a squad player, Bennette id like to see given a chance in pre season, the loan in greece was more the ****show their club was in, not down to him to why it failed. Seelt will be quality IMO just got to come back from injury
