Probably the first of the pack (a great many) of players who couldn’t score to save their lives.....Ronnie Moore, Naisse etc? Masky Of Llandaff
I know the thread is ‘best’ but couldn’t resist mentioning Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu or as he was known ‘Dave’ In short he was hopeless. As was Quincy Obusu Abeyie scored for Birmingham when they won at NP and we then signed him on loan from Sparta Moscow.
He was only with us a short time but was an integral part of helping us across the line to cinch the championship title under Malky. Leon Barnett, brought in as cover for Mark Hudson who was injured for the league run in. Barnett formed a really good partnership with Ben Turner....
I can’t stop thinking of useless loanees. Alan Wright, diminutive full back from Villa. Olanfinjano from Wolves & JET from David Jones’s time weren’t bad. Compared to Etuhu & another one just springed to mind - Sammy Ameobi. And more….. from our Lennie Lawrence time Gareth Ainsworth, Alan Mahon & Julian Grey, they did ok from memory.
One for the worst list. A very good player before and after his time with us but absolute dogsh1te in a City shirt. Wilfried Zaha.
What about z BLOBBY bignose? Aha!! He was not a loan! Then again best purchases would not be a long list, of late!!!
And Kevin Theopile etc who wasn't too shabby either. Manga was a very good signing. One of our best in the last 15 years.
Finding just a half decent player that proves to be an upgrade on what we've got and maybe selling them on at a decent profit would be nice. Better than spending a million, sitting them on the bench, then giving them away.
I had hoped for more foreign (and better) players than he has brought in. Goutas was largely a success but prone to mishaps and Siopis after a bright start faded. He publicly wanted a foreign player from his neck of the woods but he was too expensive. If he genuinely knows of players - abroad or UK - who will improve and enhance his squad then the board should back him (unless it’s stupid money).
