My guess, RB invested money at the end of this season so we do not fall foul of PSR. Brentford tried to push the archie deal through by activating his release clause before the 30th June cut off so that would be on last years books for them. Spurs will give better payment structure so thats why LUFC are dealing now with them. 40m is a lot of money for a player who has never played at the top level. Would there be so much fuss if his surname wasn't Gray?
Sorry WJ, I've taken a deep dive into all things PSR/FFP recently and decided for my sanity to not even go there. Even the EFL rules and regulations refers to sections that don't exist within the handbook, that trying to make any sense of all this is a complete minefield as far as I am concerned. If you asked me that question in the pub, I would have said yes, I'm sure I've heard/read that myself. But as someone who likes to distinguish opinion and facts, I am unable to find any evidence, that would make my opinion any way reliable. Unlike the dwarves in the Mines of Moria in Tolkiens Lord of the Rings, PSR/FFP is the one subject where I refuse to dig any deeper, for fear of what may be unleashed
Apparently Cresswell went all the way to France and they tried to change personal terms in the contract. Charlie wouldn't budge from the original agreement and walked out.
