Him and Neil both signed improved contracts last summer. New ones for both of them this summer to help fend off interest
Charlie Wyke has just signed for Carlisle United. Buzzing for him that he's still been able to continue his career after his heart issues.
If true then that's excellent by the club and a real show of intent. I'd love to know where they stand on Clarke, are they wanting to sell to get some cash or would they be happy to offer him a new contract if he showed willing? Jobe, despite the rumours I believe they will fend off all interest unless the player himself starts to cause waves about wanting to go (can't see that happening either). I believe they will see him as an absolutely huge transfer fee at some point if they keep him for another season or two to develop.
I see people saying I’d take 7 million for Patterson 15 million for Jobe 20 million for Clarke(not necessarily on here) and maybe in the past we may have accepted deals like these. But these owners don’t get bullied, we have a valuation or valuation range for every player and if it’s not met then the player goes nowhere (contrary to how some go on that they just want a quick buck). It’s new era at Sunderland and the future looks bright
I wonder how long we have to keep fending off multi-million pound bids for our players, and renewing their contracts on competitive terms (when they’re highly sought after class players) before people stop accusing KLD of penny pinching and being tight….
I suppose it all depends on how happy they're are here. If they want to stay and we are willing to pay either what they want or close to it then they'll continue at the club. Speakman did come out previously and say that they are trying to build a team to get us promoted and stay there. Fingers crossed that they do it
