    Aha, #13 must have been Simone Perrotta (midfielder) in 2006 in Germany,unless it was in the woman's W.Cup ! Perrotta was indeed born in the same hospital in Ashton-under-Lyne as was Geoff Hurst ! A few years apart mind. I didn't remember his name, but I vaguely remember an avid West Ham fan I know a number of years back mentioned the unusual fact.

    Yes, indeed Simone Perrotta, is the last player born in England to win a men's FIFA World Cup winners medal. I never knew SGH was born in Ashton-Under-Lyne.
