The thing with release clauses is nine times out of ten they're a guideline, so the buying club has to meet that figure (or something approaching that figure but weighted in such a way it's acceptable) rather than pay the thing outright - but with Olise going, there's no way Palace are accepting anything but the £60m upfront and that absolutely affects Ramsey, because even if we get £10m knocked off Ramsey's asking price by adding Lo Celso the minimum outlay is £90m and that's definitely going to require some smart negotiating in other areas to balance out ...so on the plus side, Santi Gimenez is definitely off the menu
I can see us ballsing up any deal for Eze. Just has that feel to it. Loving the Euros at the moment, not just because 90% of it has been class but it's largely taken my mind off the fact we've re-signed Werner and will likely end up with the likes of Gallagher and another 10 goal a season ST that we don't need whilst getting the Spurs special of "we tried" when it came to Eze. Long live international tournament footy!
Once again: thanks a bunch to that past-it Portugeezer who passed on Eze when he'd have cost us about as much as a Ginsters pasty...
Matteo Moretto now reporting on our interest in Giovanni Leoni...but also says that, for now, it's "just chatter"
Saddest thing is Jose or no Jose, with our track record over the last 5-6 years, Eze probably would’ve been “Jack Clarke’d”. Palace has been the perfect move for him and now he’ll have the pick of teams if he does definitely leave… hope that team’s us but I’m just getting pessimistic feels over it.
The thing with Clarke is we didn't tank his development, it was a combination of Leeds forgetting to count how many loanees they had, Lockdown ending his loan at QPR early, and his Achilles going when loaned to Stoke It's remarkable how many things went against him in the space of eighteen months
Alasdair Gold claims that Leeds have interest not just in bringing in Joe Rodon, but are looking at options to either loan or buy Oliver Skipp. He then mentions we are still interested in Archie Grey. I'm sure it's just a coinkidink... He also mentions Rennes' Desire Doue as a target - and Rennes do seem resigned to losing him as they finished midtable (presumably due to failing to fulfill some of their games...) with a fee of €30-40m being bandied about given he's got two years on his contract...though the competition for him can generously be described as "stiff"
Given their approach to transfers, that gives us approximately eighteen months to agree terms with him and Leeds
So about how Archie Gray is obviously headed to Brentford? Leeds rejected their offer ...and it looks like somebody has lit the Lange Signal Possibly worth mentioning that Leeds ITKs say we had terms agreed with Grey since this time last week
Who said obviously? I said he agreed personal terms. Btw is it even concrete that Spurs are interested in him? Or is it just rumours plucked out of nowhere by the Twitter saddos who can’t just enjoy the euros and Copa America and feel the need to make stuff up about club sides?
Alasdair Gold and Dan Kilpatrick have both said we have an interest for the last 2-3 weeks Maybe keep the salt to yourself, eh?
You said "Twitter saddos" were reporting about Gray When I pointed out that Gold and Kilpatrick have been reporting about him for a good couple of weeks, you change your tune very quickly
