Was just doing searching on Google News to see if there was any word on a new sponsor and came across this. Looked through some threads and couldn't see it mentioned anywhere else.

    http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/new...ive-new-kit-deal-with-Puma-article835403.html

Can only assume that we're no longer in talks with Nike.

What do people make of this? The quality of Puma shirts could be a bit better but I like the design of the current strip. I doubt they'll be sponsoring the stadium. Looks like the sponsor of the stadium will be the main sponsor on our shirts.

To be honest. Nike's shirts are just as tacky. Should really go back to Adidas.

Yeah, looks like the shirt sponsor will get the naming rights to the stadium too. Hope to **** it doesnt go to Virgin.

I for one wouldnt wanna walk round with a shirt that says virgin, on it. And then go to the virgin arena

Virgin would be ok imo. Better than ****ing Sports Direct... Or Tombola for that matter.

I wouldn't mind Virgin on the shirts, but having the stadium named after it could be a tad embarrassing. I've been a Virgin Mobile customer since I got my first mobile though, so the whole Virgin thing doesn't phase me too much.

I'm not too fussed about us not getting Nike involved with the shirts, but you probably couldn't do much better than having them sponsor the stadium. I always felt that Nike wasn't a realistic possibility anyway.

I do like the design of the Puma kits, Nike are very unimaginative these days, with Puma we're getting something different each year, although they could maybe of a higher quality.
(Regarding this, I only wonder if it is NUFC who have taken up the cheaper option on the shirts, because Puma can, and do make high quality shirts. I'm thinking of the Italian one in particular, the badge is embroidered etc.)

On a side note I do love the word lucrative.

Yeah, perhaps now we might have some "premium" shirts.

I must say that this year's home shirt has really grown on me. Still not too keen on the huge band of black that runs round the bottom but they look very smart, especially with long sleeves.

The only think putting me off getting one is the quality; I had a feel of one (oo er) in the shop a while ago and it bears almost the same qualities as Harry Potter's invisibility cape, colour aside. I know the players have to play in it, so being lightweight is key, but they could design a mass-produced version which is a bit more heavy duty.

Can't say I have ever touched it to be aware of it's qualities in order to make a suitable comparison between the two items <ok>
