Potentially, yeah. Approx £20m being quoted by a number of sources. I'd rather he goes abroad than to a PL club like West Ham though.
I suspect if our FFP was really at risk, someone would have definitely been sold by now. I personally think Swiss Ramble is grossly underestimating our commercial income by at least £50m. Adidas, Saudia and others have come on board and those deals are significant. Surprised Minteh didn't go to Lyon, good club and will give him a stronger league than Eredivisie without the difficulty of the PL. What is more interesting is that his old manager, Slot, hasn't been clamouring to get him - maybe an indication of where he's at right now? Personally I'd be shipping out Wilson, Almiron, Longstaff and Krafth. All incredibly average players bulking out the squad and that's £60m cash in hand. Effectively three need replacing - RW, CF, RCB.
Why we don’t try offload the likes of Krafth amazes me. Why? Surely they’d be takers even for 5-10m. I mean Ben ****ing Godfrey is going to Atalanta for Christ sake.
As much as I agree, problem is you have to replace those players and we have to pay a premium. Minteh is probably what we have to sacrifice first unfortunately as he's a sellable asset. I'd like to assume the club would be cleaver enough to have a buy back clause in there mind.
Thing is that if we are in potential FFP rules breach and do have to sell someone by 30/6 then we aren't in a strong negotiating position. There's always a line below which we won't go but doubt whether a buy back clause would be an absolute necessity.
IF, if, we were indeed in absolute need of say £20m-£25m by 30th June for financial rules purposes (as the press seem to think), then no doubt a sale to a Saudi club would have happened by now.
I don't mind us selling Minteh for 40m, unlikely worth more, but I really hope the rumours of Minteh to Calvert Lewin swap deal aren't true fffs.
Are Chelsea literally just hijacking every deal anyone tries to make? They are now in for Dewsbury-Hall who had already agreed terms with Brighton. Now his head is turned and he thinks he can get in the Chelsea team. What a fool. And why would Chelsea even want him anyway?
Would be funny if Chelsea decline again after being on the verge of a recovery with Poch. The fact that Poch made them impressive for the first time in a while and still wanted to leave anyway speaks volumes.
Minteh to Everton for £40m in instalments is back on apparently... Hopefuly he turns out to be ****, and disruptive.
Here's a big issue for me - Man City won the PL with the following senior, contributing players: 3 x GK: Ederson - Ortega - Carson 8 x DEF: Walker - Lewis - Stones - Akanji - Ake - Dias - Gvardiol - Gomez 9 x MF: Bobb - De Bruyne - Foden - Doku - Rodri - Grealish - Kovacic - Nunes - Silva 2 x FW: Haaland - Alvarez Literally 22 players, 2 x XI. Here's Newcastle last season: 4 x GK: Pope - Dubs - Karius - Gillespie 11 x DEF: Trips - Botman - Lascelles - Schar - Burn - Livramento - Hall - Krafth - A. Murphy - Targett - Dummett 12 x MF: Ritchie - J.Murphy - Almiron - Longstaff - Miley - Tonali - Bruno - Joelinton - Willock - White - Barnes - Gordon 2 x FW: Isak - Wilson 29 players and SO MUCH CRAP!! We can easily afford to lose FIVE players without the need for reinforcements. Dummett, Ritchie already gone but we're still far too heavy in both departments. Almiron, Krafth, Targett should all go without any need for new players. GK: For me we should be bringing in better than Pope and shifting Dubravka. More money in, important position sorted. DEF: We should be looking to get a RCB/RB (Gvardiol type but on the right) as Trippier has barely a season left at this level. LB is bang average but isn't worth spending money on now. MF: Right side is critical as we're so poor there. I'd also aim for a real destroyer (Richard Rios would be cheap, Ndidi is free) to replace Longstaff and allow us to play with more freedom. FW: Shift Wilson and bring in a young target-type forward. This idea we need such a big squad is all wrong. We just need top end, first team players who are resilient and talented, not more bargain bucket dross to bulk out a squad that's too full of **** as it is. 5 players to genuinely improve the first team and we're flying. It's so close, but **** knows what they'll end up doing this Summer.
Yeah like 5+ times the amount we paid for him. Decent business. Ideally with a sell on clause and / or buy back clause included.
I' It's only not decent business if we spend it on DCL. If DCL would cost 40m, I'd rather we just kept Wilson and signed a youngster. Wilson can make enough impact and now he's playing less games and will rarely be relied on for a start. Sign a young kid and give him some game time.
Wilson needs to be jettisoned just for his cryptic, soft arse, cry baby posts on social media earlier
Man City have impressive youth to bring in if the injuries stack up, to be fair. It's not a fair comparison. We needed more established pros - but I get your point.
They surely do but they were barely, if at all, used in the bigger comps. I’m talking about used players on four fronts and they ended with a trophy and two final appearances.
