There's plenty of people down here who share those views too. I think a lot of people see it as a UK issue rather than a regional issue. But I think the South West takes more asylum seekers than any other region other than London and the South East

Yeah I would like to add to Saf's and Bobby's comments, that when I mentioned betting, now thinking about it I was referring to online betting, think I just assumed people rarely go in shops these days.

When I was growing up there was a Chinese restaurant over the road from the William Hill in Stanmore. Some of the staff would get paid cash and lose a fortune on roulette and go back to work. The good old days were gambling addiction would be in the open. Now it’s just betting on a Uruguayan table tennis tournament at 3am.

It’s a shame the shops are slowly disappearing. A sort of community hub for old boys putting their £1 each way on every race to stay warm.

Anyway, as much as we moan about our own politicians and the various perceived failings of Starmer and Sunak...

Did anybody see the US presidential debate ? ****in hell man. The choice the yanks have is truly frightening.

    Appalling.

Biden was so poor that I just thought "yeah, I mean, I see why Trump convinces so many."

    Man could barely talk.

Nah I never saw it in the early hours, might just look at the news thinking about, just to see who insulted who the most, and if Biden could actually find the podium, or whether he was dosed up to the eyeballs to appear normal. I don't have to worry the same with Trump, everyone knows he's not normal and no amount of medication is likely to help him.

Yeah I’m not weird enough for an election party but might do an all-nighter on the 4th. More likely see the exit poll and fall asleep on the couch.

I've only seen the catch up this morning, but it was a woeful indictment on where US politics is at.

Biden, is probably a safe pair of hands in terms of US policy (or his team is), but the guy is just too old, he's 81 now and he should just retire. As a result of his performance, it just enabled Trump to spew lies, which Biden didn't have the wherewithal to counter.

The democrats should have nominated a younger more dynamic candidate, because Trump is easy pickings for anybody with their wits about them as he talks complete and utter bollocks

People characterize trump as a buffoon but, he picked his time well to run against Hilary Clinton. I think he's so persistent re running against Biden because he knows the man just doesn't stand a chance.

Biden was a mess. The guys is clearly past it and should let a younger candidate lead the Democrats.

It's pretty tragic really, because factually Biden is right on a lot of what he says, whereas Trump just spouts what's going on in his head, a lot of which is just obvious nonsense.

But when you have an old man who is clearly struggling to get his words out, it just looks like he's no longer capable, and that hands the incentive to somebody who can get away with blatant lies.

I don't think Trump is a Buffoon, I think he's an opportunist. A bit like Boris (who did play the buffoon card) He'll seize on popularist topics to enable his own grapple for power.

Didn't Trump once say in an interview years ago that if he ever got into Politics, he'd run as a Republican candidate as 'they are the dumbest voters'
And I remember Boris being a champion of the EU and the single market, before he used Brexit as a tool to get himself elected.

    Opportunists.

I find it both sad and embarrassing when Biden attends big events - I watched him in Italy in the recent summit in Puglia, you could see his mind had completely wandered and his bodily movement with it, Giorgia Meloni had spotted what was happening and had to subtly go over and engage his focus back into the group. While that dumbarse von der shhite, just stood next to him clueless. I know Biden is only a face, but when other world leaders are having to carry him through boring schedules, it's time for the man to put his feet up. Are we really going to wait for this guy keel over or piss himself on live tv, it will be so degrading for the man.
