A vegetable puppet is better than an incoherent lunatic who supports and admires authoritarians. Despite what those on the right say they are not scared of him. They want him in power because he will approvingly nod as they do what ever they want. He just doesn’t understand global geopolitics. He appears to subscribe heavily to “might makes right”. Which when added to “America first” is a pretty bad combination for the world Even if we entertain the idea that Biden is a puppet and other people have pulled the strings his entire presidency - it’s not like things in the USA have actually gone to hell in that time. Sure there has been inflation - but ours has been worse. I am always staggered by right wing American YouTubers who blame Biden for inflation when it is pretty much a worldwide issue. A lot of people are genuinely worried about what Trump will do in power (leaving aside the fear mongering over whether he will try and stay in longer than the one more term he is allowed - something he has said he wants. But when he would be as old and doddering as Biden is now). But when people try and say this there is a hefty chunk of people who just scream “TDS”. It’s not deranged to have well found fears based on evidence. It just isn’t
I didn’t stick up for him at all. I just objected to you using the pejorative and inaccurate term ‘vegetable’, which he clearly isn’t. If you want to say things like “the adults are talking”, then you need to use adult language, not throw silly terms about like an hysterical toddler.
For me, someone that obviously wears adult diapers, shuffles about and can’t string a coherent thought together shouldn’t be fit to run a bath let alone our largest ally on the global stage. Maybe vegetable is a harsh term, but harsh words and harsher reactions are needed There is no defence of this charade. No matter how bad trump is he cannot be worse than this. The entire thing is a mockery of democracy. It angers me that his mental decline has been so obvious for years and yet people have let it happen. I apologise for my language but it’s very frustrating to see the decline of the West so clearly.
I don’t disagree, that’s the point. He should have been replaced, and he definitely needs to be replaced now.
Sorry LTL. I didn’t mean to snap at you. I have been saying this on here since 2022/23 and being told that I’m a “conspiraloon”.
I honestly don’t think there’s anyone here that thinks Biden is a suitable leader for the US now. It’s a shambles.
The other thing to consider is the insiders all know he was like this. Yet they pushed him into a live debate anyway… So I guess they already have a replacement lined up.
Democracy is getting a lot of mentions in the above posts so perhaps someone can enlighten me as to whether or not the Reform Uk Party LTD is a democratic or autocratic party. I ask because it is a Ltd company that has Farage as a majority shareholder, so can he can unilaterally decide to do whatever he wants with the party, irrespective of input from other shareholders? Genuine question.
The poor fools who pay their £25 towards Nigel’s beer funds have absolutely ZERO say in what Nigel says or does policy-wise. You decide whether that constitutes a Democratic party or not.
Isn’t Harris the only possible one given how their system works? Or are there some mysterious convention based shenanigans. I don’t think something like this has ever happened before. I still don’t see him dropping out but you do make an interesting point on this. Although did they actually push for a live debate? Or simply choose not to hide from one - which he couldn’t really do? I assumed debates are standard and expected what is unusual is the timing of the first one being before the convention which is where your point comes in
I find i weird how no one has mentioned this yet about 'Reform' https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c10l5qd8p60o Some may say it is the ramblings of a minority, but IMO unfortunately, it is probably how a lot of Reform voters think. Yes, our views on the world are shaped by personal experiences, but it doesn't make them right.
And she ticks a lot of boxes too, ½ asian, ½ black, and a woman. I know that shouldn't be a reason to become the president, but she is the exact opposite of the man she would be up against.
The “conspiraloon” point would come from the claims that he is the criminal mastermind of a crime family whilst also being senile and doddery. It was always more likely that he was the latter rather than the former. But the idea of being both was the wacky part Also the other part of this is that Trump is also clearly suffering from significant cognitive decline as well but in an attempt to hammer Biden (who does seem worse at least in some aspects) this is being ignored. Even your point about adult diapers - this is also an accusation levelled at Trump and they now sell Red MAGA adult diapers. Now maybe that is all supposed to be a bit of a joke. But I’m not so sure Neither should be up there. It isn’t even really a case of “Trump will be better because his dementia is less severe”. That is wild. (Yes I know no one has said that quote - it is mine but it is effectively what some seem to be arguing)
Ticks all the boxes that will mean her getting even more hammered than Biden would if he stayed in. Weirdly despite last night I’d suggest Biden still has more of a chance of beating Trump than Harris. It’s why he hasn’t already stood down. There aren’t enough swing votes in pandering to minorities. For example - Georgia isn’t going to flip solidly blue just because of a black candidate.
Jon Sopel on LBC makes a very strong case for either Gavin Newsom, the Governor of California, or Gretchen Whitmer, the Governor of Michigan, to be announced in a brokered Democratic Convention. Either would completely disrupt the whole Trump campaign as he wouldn’t have anything, true or made up, to throw at either of them.
So, do you think we should tell the person who is so worried about the downfall of democracy that the party he has said he is going to vote for isn’t democratic?
