Happy with that draw. Easy to get to with a big allocation. Also, it's against decent opposition so it's not going to be a game where you barely learn anything and make 11 changes like we often get in the early rounds of the draw, Le Bris will be forced to play a strongish side which means extra minutes within his system for the first team players.
Tough draw, might have been better to get a L2 side where we can rotate a lot of u21 players in, that said I think we've lost a few times when we've done that.
Pisses me off when coaches do that. I went to Hillsborough 2 seasons ago and it was a completely changed XI (think Diamond started up front) and we got dicked on.
I understand why they do it though, league matches are often too important to give young lads a chance to prove themselves, however L2 opposition shouldn't be beyond them if they've got a genuine chance of making the team, and a good performance in that sort of match can help them prove it.
Winning games and gaining momentum is more important in my opinion. People might say it's a risk to play your first team in a "meaningless" game but imagine we win down at Cardiff, play a full strength team that beats Preston, then we beat Sheff Wed at home. Suddenly that's 3 wins on the spin ahead of a couple of tough games. Confidence and momentum cannot be artificially manufactured...
