Got a new niece today, had forgotten she was ‘due’ . Called Bonnie. Barbecue at work tonight, matches on in the background. Usual guff of burger, sausages and pork belly, but have an individual rib eye to stick on there. White Rioja for with food, couple of Sierra Nevada pale to warm up. On a Tuesday ffs!
Ordered a crate of wine last night on standard delivery and it was delivered at 2 o clock today . mrs solid not happy as we already had quite enough in but i had a voucher to use up
got caught speeding. Signed up to a virtual online course. Didn't even realise these existed to be done online
Wales was being **** yesterday, beautiful day and had to drop the daughter off in Swansea so Mrs luv came and and we planned on going out for food. Tapped @Chief up for a couple of decent places but Mrs luv didn't want bar food so I started looking for other places. Loads of places close Mon Tue around here I get that in Winter but it was a stunning day and it makes no sense to close a business when people will be out and about. Eventually found a great place though.
It’s a nightmare staffing those places. Open with a full staff and then have **** weather and you haemorrhage money. Chances are they don’t have enough staff to open every day. Hospitality in general is ****ed.
I think hospitality needs to adapt to the weather in this country, it's end of June people will go out and it's generally a bit warmer and less rain. The place we went to was packed. Come winter close Monday Tuesday makes sense but so many places yesterday were just losing out.
Some of the clever places learned lessons during COVID there's a pub near me that opened a pizza van outside it's now there 7 days a week. They used to close Monday Tuesday but now open 7 days but no food in the pub Monday Tuesday just pizza van. They're also seems to be a realisation that people will pay a little more for quality other than fork out for any old crap.
My local also got clever and approached the Italian restaurant upstairs from it and asked them to deliver pizzas as there's a stairs that comes right down to the pub door so you just ring them and they'll bring pizza down to you. People stopped ****ing off to get something to eat.
Yeah but you need to give staff a bit of notice they’re working. They won’t get deliveries on a Sunday which probably limits the food offering on a Monday and they’ll use those days for prep/working on new menu items/training or whatever depending on the business. Obviously they’re losing out some days but it nets out positively for a lot of small places to not be open every day.
Think it was covid wasn't it that made it all go online. I got done for speeding last year, but I was 1mph over the limit for the online course So £100 fine and 3 points
I did a course where I had to attend. Worth it to avoid the points. It was actually quite informative. And there were biscuits 5.5/10
