Well, no surprises at all tonight. It was pretty obvious just swapping Gallagher for Trent would not solve our issues and it didn't. Why did it take Southgate longer than your average fan down the pub to realise Maino (or Wharton) should start beside Rice, not trent or Gallagher? Bellingham should have been subbed, he was dreadful and Saka should have come off for Palmer much sooner. 3 positive's out of tonight: 1. We got lucky and avoided Germany. 2. Hopefully Southgate realises Trent and Gallagher are not CDMs. 3. Palmer was impressive and needs to start on Sunday.
Gareth Southgate has a whole cupboard full of opened luxury chocolate boxes with only the orange cream missing…
Nobody wants to say how diabolically bad Bellingham has been the last two games. He genuinely looked like he can’t be arsed.
Barely been involved has he? He struggles to operate in tight spaces when his back is to goal. We would be better playing 433 with a midfield 3 of Wharton, Rice & Bellingham. He is much more effective for England when getting the ball deep and driving on.
Was at the game. Saints would have beaten that England side tonight, I am very confident of it. Concerned about the response of the players, they sound deluded, a lot like the bit in Mike Bassett England Manager where the players are cheering on the Mexicans and he loses his ****. I think Southgate would lead the cheering though. Trams on the way back were a crush risk too, excellent way to end the evening. I’m moaning but I wasn’t surprised after the first two games.
*The Football Association is proud to announce that manager Gareth Southgate has signed a two year contract extension. We believe that Gareth’s commitment to a unique brand of attacking and exhilarating football, as well as his envied tactical prowess can provide a lasting platform on which we can build for decades to come. We are sure that England fans will be as delighted as us to see Gareth stay on.
No matter who we bring in, it will always be the same. Bad tactics. Players out of position. Wasted opportunities. England football team is cursed
