Can't say if he is going to be a loss to the team , how influential was he and who's the best replacement
Gives us an excuse to have a little reshuffle and bring in a set-piece coach, for a start. Not sure what else needs a good examination, but I'm sure there's work to be done.
I think he was Ange’s senior assistant but I don’t think they’ve had a long working relationship so I’d imagine he should be replaceable without much fuss.
I wonder if this opens up any loan opportunities for us? League One can be a punishing teacher for some young players, though.
Dorrington could certainly do with a half-season in League One to see if he can step up to the Championship come January
The Athletic claim that we're lining up Southampton's Jack Chapman to become the new Head of Academy Recruitment
Looks like Ange is replacing Chris Davies with Nick Montgomery and his assistant, Sergio Raimundo. They won the A-League a couple years back with Central Coast Marriners but recently got sacked by Hibs.
Simon Davies has rejected the chance to join Craig Bellamy in the Wales setup to stay with us as Academy Director.
Southampton's head of national recruitment Simon Jones is set to join us, as per The Athletic (or NY Times, so good luck reading more than six words of the article...)
Previously worked for Walsall, Cheltenham, Birmingham and Liverpool: https://uk.linkedin.com/in/simon-jones-a4a08b52 We nicked their head of academy recruitment, Jack Chapman, last season. He's probably requested this.
For context, his big hits include finding Jamal Musiala at Bayern, and Riccardo Calafiori when he was at Basel
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c8rdjvd3nzzo A salient summary of Spurs match stats. Improve the set piece defence, and stop sinking into Portu-ball attacking, and the results + performance will dramatically improve.
Except the issue isn't our set piece defence...it's that we concede so many set pieces. Our stats on defending corners is about the same as Arsenal, but we have twice as many to defend!
