What are you talking about? I can assure You, You weren't ridiculed because you said that. We took the piss because You brought inflation and exchange rates (which you guessed at) into a discussion regarding annual accounts, despite them being available for all to see online. The simple fact of the matter is the accounts aren't due to start being prepared for another 6 days. So anyone guessing what they're going to be is doing just that. Nobody knows how much the partnership deals are worth, how much the actual allowable expenditure is going to be and how much income came in from other sources. If any organisation in the world is going to know what the budget is to the penny then I'll trust the Saudi PIF over any newspaper or television hack every single day of the week. I have faith that the lack of signings in January and the lack of effort to offload players in Jan and to this point during the summer I'm guessing we're actually okay.
I wasn't exactly worried about Bruno's £100m release clause window being activated, but in a small way I'm glad it's passed. The general sustained wave of negativity about us needing to sell hasn't been pee easy to live with. A dose of good news would be welcome.
Interesting Summer, given Howe's nephew was promoted to Assistant Head of Scouting a few months ago. I'm sure we'll soon see the positive impact a 29 year old can have on our recruitment. I mean, if DCL, Kelly and Trafford are any indication, Toon title odds will surely tumble.
