I am not sure, I have read so many of his books, will google it now and see if it rings any bells, would you recommend it?
@Jarca I dont think I have, but it wouldnt be the first time I have started to read a book, only to realise I have read it before
Ok, finished it. Quite enjoyable. Turns out that the author is English-Australian but lives in Thailand. The series is about a 70 something Laotian doctor who finds himself involved in different criminal situations that he has to solve with help of his trusty sidekicks. It is set in the mid/late 1970s. The Communists rule the land and whilst that is mentioned and forms part of the story, it’s not integral to the plot. The book itself was short and humorous in places. As for the pogo stick, if you want to know you’ll just have to read the book.
I often have a couple of different books on the go at once. On the theme of King, I’m halfway through book 5 of the dark tower series. Great so far. I’m also listening to a podcast alongside it, with each episode discussing several chapters. Been interesting doing that, especially as the presenters seem to pick up on stuff I’ve missed.
Started on Whispers Of The Dead by Simon Beckett. Got it from the hotel library. Won’t be able to finish it as Mrs K and me are flying back to reality tomorrow morning. It’s enjoyable enough though.
Anybody watch Mortimer & Whitehouse Gone Fishing. You don't need to be into fishing to enjoy it, locations and banter are class. Anyway the missus bought me the book last week and am finding as enjoyable as the Tv programme.
It's one of those shows that I never actively intend to watch but if it happens to come on I'll be drawn into it every time, great couple of characters.
Its more about their relationships and lives, the fishing is a backdrop. Mackerel were everywhere today
Yeah they could just be sat on a bench somewhere scenic and it'd be (almost) as good. The few times I've been fishing we didn't go with the expectation of catching much just went for a few beers and a laugh. Probably a good thing as we only ever caught one fish, can't have been a very bright one.
Just finished reading The White Rabbit, written by Bruce Marshall. The story of WW2 SOE operative and his arrest by the Gestapo, the unbelievable treatment he endured and his final daring escape....brilliant book.
