Apparently the Saudis aren't that arsed and are instead prioritising buying the entire Saudi League. They aren't throwing Newcastle away, but NUFC are not the main focus anymore ... described as a good learning experience. I'm not sure I agree given the message in the light display, but I have accepted the door is closed firmly on any fast track to success.
Staveley is probably the most intelligent person in football and has skin thicker than steve Bruce's skull.... she is the person that saved the club.
I know. I just don’t see Howe moving on whilst she’s there and I don’t feel we are going to move forward under Howe. We’re now entering that make or break, and it would be amazing to see us kick on (though with the lack of Europe so we should). As has been rightly pointed out, 1st July could see a shift in transfers. Interesting that all the weird moves of £1m kids going for £10m between PSR affected clubs are happening before 1st, and even more telling that nobody is stepping in to help Newcastle.
Newcastle and the Saudis will all be sitting back hoping city defeat the Premier league and the anti competition rules. The outcry for City doing it was nothing in comparison to the noise if it was Newcastle.. Fingers crossed.
What’s worse is we will then be saddled with a permacrock whose best years are already behind him. Jesus, just when you think we might progress and not make another Barnes **** up, here we are.
I also don’t get why we wouldn’t sell Almiron for £20m instead of Minteh for £30m. Ones crap, the other could be worth £100m in a couple of years.
Wow these valuations are varied: "Everton are also dealing with interest from Brentford and West Ham for the 11-times England international. The opening conversations between Everton and Newcastle are believed to be on Calvert-Lewin's fee with the Toffees understood to value the striker at around the £20million mark."
Personally I'd just take the PSR points deduction - Forest got 4 points and Everton got 2. Keep the best/potential players if we can't get rid of players like Dubravka, Krafth, Longstaff, Murphy, Almiron and Wilson - got to be enough £££ there to clear the issue - who are of no use and just bank that the team we have is good enough to make those points back in the first few games of the season. Even if we got 4-6 point deduction I'd be fairly confident we'd have those points back by the first two games of the season vs Southampton and Bournemouth.
There's no set amount and they barely went over. There is no escape! A huge ignoring of the rules would see Newcastle punished severely... the impact would then run into future financial figures and they'd be further restricted and punished again and again.
We are supposedly £25m over, so barely over as well. Then there is a precedent set by the deductions last year so I couldn't see more than 6 points at the very most and you'd just appeal it - it's so early in the year it'd be sorted before Xmas and we can just crack on with things. They can't say oh because you didn't sell Minteh you're being taken to the cleaners, the EPl would have their arse handed to them on a plate by Nick Di Marco. Tbh for one year where we have no extra games we'll be fine with a few points lost through the dodgy 6 rules. Next years accounts will include CL money, new Adidas sponsorship + what is generated by the new fanzone and any other ideas they can come up with.
They'll take Newcastle to the cleaners... the outcry wouldn't be ideal either. I heard 70 million. The rules have to be defeated or play by them.
I can’t see this happening. We won’t take the risk. Chaos is right. They would take us to the cleaners and slap us with huge penalties. I have just read we will sell Wilson to cover the DCL fee.
The Athletic are reporting that they understand it to be around £25m that we need to bring in before the end of the month.
