Read it ages ago, loved it. I used to work with a senior manager who talked that slow I think he believed his life would last longer the more he did it, dragging out his time
Some right odd things happening to me at the minute in my house. My wife is terrified of stuff like it after the excorcist so I darent tell her, she would pack up and run. Mostly just me and the dog in the house during the day, when it happens, and the dog gets freaked as well. Might have to call in the fella with the holy water (i can add it to malt )
I’ve read it twice and will definitely read it again. I find it so funny yet so sad and tragic and yet inspiring! Such a great set of characters!
I wish sometimes with King that he'd just leave out the supernatural stuff and write a regular story. I can't remember the particular books, but they've been a few that I've read where the build up is great, and then the strange stuff starts and I just think it would have been better without it.
Currently reading "The Holocaust: The Jewish Tragedy" by Martin Gilbert. I say "reading", but I've been reading this thing for about 12 months now, just always seem to have something else to do. I used to enjoy reading, used to read a lot when I worked offshore. James Herbert was a favourite, which then got me into Stephen King, loved their early books. Spike Milligans series of war memoirs are funny as owt, proper laugh out loud stuff. Tried reading Tom Sharpe, but just couldn't get away with them. Once I eventually finish The Holocaust, I've got Schindlers Ark to read. Probably my favourite film (Schindlers List), but never read the book.
I read Spike Milligans war memoirs donkeys years ago. Very funny. I’ll have to read them again. I’m like you with Tom Sharpe. I’ve read three of the Wilt series and one that was set in South Africa, which I believe lots of them are. Other than that I couldn’t get into his other stuff. Schindlers Ark is another one I read. Late 1980s before the film was made. Never seen the film though.
Getting back to my first post, I’ve finished Fairy Tale. Really enjoyed it in the end. I’ve now picked up a book from the hotel library. It’s one of the few in English. It’s called Curse Of The Pogo Stick by Colin Cotterill. It’s set in Laos and is one of a series. Looks like it’s a murder mystery type novel. I’ll report back when I’ve read it.
Me and our lass used to go to the toilet at the same time during the night, incase the bitch was sat on the pot waiting for us We used to live in the nursery wing of an old mansion in 73. We did that for around a week
I am a prolific reader when on holiday. I read 5 books when I was in Cuba. I am swiping a Kindle off my ex as she now has an all singing all dancing Ipad, so I will be upping my reading in the near future
I enjoyed it aswell. I’ve liked quite a few of his more recent books, not at the level of the Stand/Shining/IT/11-22-63 but good all the same.
