We won’t sign anyone before 30th June for any money. I said it weeks ago and got rinsed by some on here because I said we had FFP problems THIS year upto 30th June. It looks like we either: Need the Ashworth 20m to balance the books. Manu knowing this just playing hardball. Need to sell to balance the books. Anyone. Minteh being the obvious choice. Don’t need to sell because we are walking a tight rope.
So Mintehs agent has stated that he has agreed terms with a club and that it’s up to Newcastle to agree the fee. So that’s it. We are selling him before 30th June to balance the books.
The quite simply do have PSR issues, so you were perfectly correct. The club have literally stood in front of people telling them along with the manager and every journalist from here to timbuktu, but some people just plugged their fingers in their ears and created ideas to dismiss it... like it's a trick to keep prices down ffs.
It's a case of having to sell although I do worry that Howe simply prefers this option over selling Longstaff. Let's be brutally honest.... longstaff is the type Howe likes and minteh definitely isn't. It doesn't take Columbo to figure out Howes type.
It’s just disappointing because Minteh clearly had massive potential. There are apparently 4/5 big clubs interested. I don’t think it’s Howes fault about FFP but we do have other players we could sell. However it’s possible no one is interested in them. We only really have top players to sell. No one is interested in Longstaff, Miggy, Wilson, Murphy etc.
Why not? His stats are amazing, albeit in a lower level league. But the fact that he is attracting interest from some of Europes top clubs.
Minteh is going to be one of the best players anywhere within a few years. He's going to play at the very top. The goals he scores it doesn't matter what league you're in.. they're going in the net. Newcastle have to sell someone and unfortunately he's pure profit to avoid penalties.
Still basically unproven as the Dutch league is ****. Haris Vuckic was classed as one of the best young players in Europe, and a few years later he was on the Rotherham bench. Minteh obviously better than that, but I'm very wary of players who have their reputation from the Dutch league.
He is also doing it at International level. I think he’s the best prospect we have had for decades and we have to sell him. Thats just ****.
I absolutely agree with you .. he's fire mate...... some of his goals are absolutely amazing...it's a real ****house situation. 19 ... I'm pretty sure Murphy wouldn't score many of the goals he scores.
I am really quite sad that we are selling him. And we definitely are. However if we do and then go and sign Chiesa. I think I will accept it.
There's nothing whatsoever that suggests to me that this will happen. I think Newcastle are in bother with PSR and it'll be a case of wheeling and dealing regardless of this sale. The laser show was basically trying to remind everyone this is just the start... the next couple of years might be a tad frustrating and then they'll go again I think.
I don’t know. I won’t judge until we see the squad when the window closes. I am sad that we have to sell Minteh. I really wanted to see what he could do. Now it looks like we will have to continue watching Miggy running and running but not doing anything.
