Correct me if I’m wrong - isn’t that what scouts are for? Your choices are unrealistic, no argument, but I don’t recall saying we needed Hernandez, Olise, Sesko, etc. I don’t care if I don’t know who they are - what I struggle with is players like DCL, who is crap, Kelly and Trafford. They’re just not very good. And ultimately I’m so bored of any discussion being about wages, that’s irrelevant. If the owners and board think we’re qualifying for UCL every year paying people like Kelly and Barnes £40k a week then they’re in the wrong ****ing industry.
Liverpool didn't want him is the key... Newcastle simply cannot get players that any of the big clubs really go all in for. It doesn't mean they don't miss a few like isak and Guimareas, but the top and bottom of it was they didn't go for them.
He’s alright, has a bit of versatility, so I don’t hate the signing. It just sets off two alarms - one, we’re going to use the exact same tactic as we did last season (Kelly is just a Burn-a-like). Two, it’s middle of the road.
We are still small time. Howe is small time, Staveley is small time, the recent transfers and rumours are small time, the training ground is still small time, the stagnation around DoF is small time, giving power to Howe and his nephew is small time.
Tend to agree yes.... Howe isn't going to attract any attention abroad from young players.... Emery is showing Newcastle the difference between himself and Howe. It isn't all the huff and puff, plus he has connections and a reputation abroad. Time will tell with Howe I guess.
Yep. Remit - must have PL experience and English as their first language. Bants must be on point. Smiles essential. Talent? Optional.
Gallagher will be Guimareas's replacement.. I'm absolutely sure of that. I'm just hoping we keep him because this is going more Stoke City than Man CIty.
Olise is about as glamorous as it’ll get. He was a French cockney. Eurgh, it’s so predictable. This Newcastle won’t get to anywhere near the top til AS and EH move on. The element of surprise is gone, but now everybody knows exactly how we’ll play and who’s playing.
Olise was a non starter....tbh it doesn't matter how many times people are reminded what the situation is they keep peddling these unrealistic notions window after window after window. It'll be Chiesa and Calafiori or something now, but the truth is more along the lines of Mbeumo and kilman at best. It's just time we all accepted the situation.. the manager certainly has.
Id suggest the manager is part of the problem. Obviously. I think the owners overlooked what other teams could do in the face of our takeover. The odds are against, for sure, but getting transfer windows right is paramount. And we’ve ****ed the last three (arguably, Gordon was a superb signing but he was the only one). I’ll never get past the last one - a UCL side should never, ever be bringing in the likes of Barnes, Hall and Livramento (ie 3 subs). Whoever was in charge of that should’ve walked but they didn’t.
I meant he went to Valencia for £1.5m and a year later he’s a £30m keeper. We need to find these players but here we are with DCL and Trafford and Kilman as top priorities, with the backdrop being we need to sell Minteh, a player we might’ve actually finally “discovered”.
Hall and Livramento should have played all season and who knows where the side would have finished.. 6th at least I'm sure... the number of points this manager cost the club with his refusal to drop Burn at left back was vast. This notion Hall suddenly learned to play football in a couple of months is absolute nonsense.... yeah he went from being worse than dummett and Burn to being brilliant in two extra months of listening to Howes words while running around his cones ... laughable.
I’m clinging on to the possibility that these newspaper stories about essentially swapping young Minteh for a king of the treatment table are a diversion, but more importantly complete kack. To my mind in the absence of nailed-on genuine transfer factuality, we need to keep the faith.
Mate we're performing any mental gymnastic available to ignore what is glaringly obvious. The biggest voice is shouting for solid/easy to manage low risk lads. Now given what we've heard from our manager does that marry up with anyone in particular? Of course he might be proven to be right.
