Ok, so maybe if there’s one problem with moulding a team around Kane, then it’s probably what he’s come up against at Tottenham, which is that successive squads have relied on him being a consistent goal machine to cover up other inadequacies in the team, whether that’s come from the manager or the players. That’s hardly his fault. At Bayern, he sim0ly joined a club that had a questionable manager in Tuchel. He’s had one seams on there so can hardly be held accountable for them failing to win the league. It’s a complete myth that Kane is responsible for his clubs and country failing to win trophies. It’s those around him that have let him down.

we need to back away from any idea that Kane is past it and on his way down. He just needs a manager who recognises his strengths and uses them correctly. He also needs the players around him to take responsibility.

I’m also confused as to why he’s been told not to drop deep to receive the ball. He’s always done that through his career and it’s worked really successfully, he brings others into the game by doing it and creates attacks. These last 2 games, in the first, he didn’t drop deep and got absolutely no service at all, he hardly touched the ball. In the 2nd game, he dropped deep, but there was no movement around him so he had no options to pass and create attacks. That’s probably what led to denmarks goal, he was searching for a way to create an attack and had nobody moving, so took a risky pass and gave possession away.

For me, making Kane any sort of scape goat for englands display is ridiculous. Use him properly and he’s win us many more games that any other player could.

The only thing wrong here is that Southgate didn't say we were the better side...

I really don’t think we were miles better in the Scotland and USA games though? In fact, I think the Denmark performance was probably the best of those three (although it’s a very low bar!).

England clearly have a lot of problems that need to be addressed, and it’s not good enough - but the reaction so far has been quite extreme. You’ve even got BBC Sport with an article about what’s gone wrong for England.

I think everyone just needs to calm down a bit. Hopefully there’s some reaction in the Slovenia game.

I agree with most of this.Kane should be swiftly removed from the main blame, that 'honour' goes to our midfield, who have looked lethargic and hopelessly out of form in both games? Passing has been of an amateur level at best and it must improve dramatically if we seek to progress any further in this tournament.

I would say that Kane seems to have been going deeper than he's ever needed to be before? and on some occasions he's had to resort to defending? We then begin to enter into a phase of attack and he's playing catch up and failing to attack crosses that in normal circumstances he'd be on the end of.

If we can somehow revert back to our midfield being a tough tackling,no nonsense, aggressive, slick passing outfit (and we certainly have the players to achieve that) then I see no reason why we can't compete with the best in this tournament.

If the problem remains past the Group stage and we come up against a decent footballing side,I fear the worst and an early exit for a team who should be in the mix for a crack at the Trophy on the 14th July.I

There's hope yet but Southgate needs to sort this out now!!

"It’s a complete myth that Kane is responsible for his clubs and country failing to win trophies. It’s those around him that have let him down" - the player of the year in both England and Spain are now ****e?

"he was searching for a way to create an attack and had nobody moving, so took a risky pass and gave possession away." - my take on it - he had his back to any forward play. He hoofed a ball into the centre of the pitch from the left back position. An absolute brain fart of a pass. Where did he think, him, the centre forward was when he decided to do that?

We can go on and on with this. You think the man is ace. I don't think he is. Neither are going to yield, lets leave it.

You’re in a minority of one with your blind hatred of Harry Kane
He was poor so we’re all the others
There’s no better forward than him for England

I definitely agree that people overreact and could do to be more measured in their analysis. But I do think that those USA and Scotland games were better than the two games we've had at this tournament. Those previous draws were dour and disappointing, but largely because we struggled to break down a resolute and spirited opposition defence. The Serbia and Denmark games we've looked really bad and we've been the ones hanging on and relying on our defending ourselves due to how poor our play further up the pitch has been.

Southgate reportedly feels that our energy levels aren't good enough to press in the way that he wants to, and he's been trying unsuccessfully to find alternative ways. I think that's a huge worry, and it gives me no real confidence that this is a blip we're about to overcome.

I think we’ll have to agree to disagree on this.

Also worth considering I think Denmark are a few steps up on Scotland and better than the USA. I was more disappointed with those performances than the Denmark one, although all 3 have been poor.

It’s definitely a concern and I struggle to see us winning the tournament, but stranger things have happened.

Nothing changes Stockholm.....I go back as far as the Euros in Italy when England went there as the 'overwhelming favourites' to lift the trophy, having just beaten the world champions Argentina 3-1 at Wembley a few weeks before.....The Media darlings were literally tossing themselves off about how good they were and it was a foregone conclusion. I think lovely Ron Greenwood was boss. Come on Ron wouldn't hurt a fly and didn't have a bad word for anyone. Who didn't like him? ...England were $hite....Couldn't beat a rubbish Belgium side in the first game, drawing 1-1, then came up against Italy and were outplayed for most of the match, losing to a late goal, and yes England were coming home with their dicks firmly rammed between their legs...Same thing will happen here. The terrible thing is that a 3-0 win over Moldovia in the next qualifying game and they're world beaters again........!!!! Does my head in.

If Southgate had a Ferrari he’d drive it at 10mph.

Southgate puts his phone on low power mode when the batteries are on 99%.

Southgate's favorite activity is to watch the paint dry.

If Southgate was a spice, he’d be flour.

If Southgate was a Prime Minister, he would be Liz Truss.

Southgate is the type of man who listens to his favorite song at the lowest volume.

If Southgate had a spoon, he'd use his hands.

If Southgate had a penis, he'd use his balls.

If Southgate was the Flash, he'd walk.
