Denmark didn't seem to find it a problem. I guess the fact most of the team plays in England has prepared them for poor pitches. Oh... wait...
The formation was wrong for me. If you play two DMs, which was how it looked to me when TAA was on the pitch, then you need more than 1 player ahead of them, as in a 4-2-3-1set up. We had zero control over the midfield and because there were so few pass options out of defence, we just hit aimless passes. 4-1-2-3 would suit us better, with the 2 being box to box midfielders who can help out at both ends of the pitch.
Southgate doesn’t have the answers imo. Trent at midfield is stupid Trippier at LB is stupid Kane dropping so deep with no runners around him is stupid. Back to the drawing board Gareth

Don’t get blaming Kane for **** tactics, playing players out of position, no balance or tactical nous (what was the game plan supposed to be?) and pretty much every player unable to control, pass, cross or shoot. Kane is one of the best strikers in the competition. We supposedly have some of the best creative attacking players in the world, and we are seeing absolutely nothing from them. Are they all in poor form together suddenly, or is it the tactics? The players look like they’ve never played together before and like they don’t know what they’re supposed to be doing with or without the ball. We have no control in midfield and it’s just giving us no platform to play from. I can forgive playing Trippier at LB to an extent as we have no other options…but then not bringing a single fit LB is also on Southgate. If we’d played a quality side in either game we would have been soundly thrashed. Denmark and Serbia are average at best. Another thing, we looked absolutely exhausted and really shouldn’t. Steam blown off, not going to think about England again until the next bloody game.
Summed up pretty well. Tactically lost. The players just didnt look like they had been coach. So poor for this level.
They were brilliant. It is depressing when you compare our squad to theirs and then compare how we both played.

He is still living in the past! Just staggering that comment. He brings Mainoo and Wharton who have shown they can hold their own in the Premier League, but he's too scared to start them and would rather play TAA in midfield which doesn't work . Gallagher coming on instantly proved that.
