A great actor gone. Even in his later years he played some superb roles. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c9rrvdq3g9zo
Very sad. A great actor who took on a variety of different characteristics in his many roles. RIP Donald.
Just walking a friend's dog at Porthcawl. That is an actual activity not a euphemism. About 30 teenage schoolkids turned up. A day at the seaside and approaching people for a survey about Porthcawl. Turns out they are from Bishop of Llandaff School, Cardiff. Having completed the survey I asked if they knew someone who calls himself the Llandaff Gentleman. They said no but had been warned by their parents never to talk to someone called Masky who inhabits the bushes at Llandaff Fields after dark. Well known for his groping habit and very small todge.
Had to go and catch a ewe this evening. Treated her for maggots yesterday. Quite nasty patches of bare skin with some open sores. Unusual as they've been sheared. They're at a field where the owners keep an eye on them for us. They messaged our daughter to say she wasn't looking great and was being bothered by flies. Anyway, caught her. No maggots, no flies, sores drying up, but looking a bit wobbly. A pain relief jab, an antibiotic jab and some spray to help the sores heal and she wandered off. Did a check on the others with Mrs Remote while we were there. Next year's mams chilling in the late evening sun with an atmospheric sky behind to the north.
A game of two halves. Sunny and warm to the south, a malevolent, foreboding sky to the North. It didn't come to anything. It is remarkable what you can capture with the camera on your phone these days. It was another of those moments when you just happen to be there at the right time. You don't go out looking for the picture, you just spend enough time outside that the law of averages means you'll chance upon it sooner or later.
Went out trout fishing about 8am this morning. 12 degrees, no sun, damp. Had a fishing club meeting at our lodge from 1-4.30, then did a few odd jobs at the small holding. Got home about 6 and the house was freezing. Ended up putting the heating on. 1st time since April. July FFS.
After playing rugby back in the day there was always tea or coffee available in the changing rooms. Often drank mine in the shower. It was never very strong, but it lasted for ages.
