Precisely ... we're currently creating the foundations, not the pinnacle.

Once our prospects, like Ballard, Clarke, Bellingham, etc, make us big profits we can start to spend money we actually have.

Otherwise we're just another run of the mill Championship outfit buying other club's Championship players.

We've tried all that before and got nowhere ...

... no point just repeating it over and over then ending back at square one imo.

More than any other time I can remember, this period has shown me that it's best to step away from the rumour mill.

It's impossible to tell who knows something, who thinks they know something, who's guessing, and when someone does know something for sure whether it will actually happen or not.

I agree, I don’t want us to buy run of the mill, championship plodders who may get us promoted but won’t cut it in the PL and we’ll come back down. That’s pointless.

Like I said, we should be spending more wisely I think.

More wisely than Hume, Clarke, Ballard, etc who are more valuable than our entire squad when KLD arrived?

There are others like Huggins, Cirkin, Aouchiche, Ba, Ekwah, etc who I believe will soon be worth much more than we paid.

But, to be fair to you, it's more than possible you're right ...

... which possible wise signings do you have in mind?

More wisely than Rusyn, Hemir, Mayenda, Hjelde, Dack, the Burstow loan fee for a start.

It’s a very scattergun approach in my opinion.

Exactly this. We were signing the likes of Simms and Joffy for our striking positions. Granted Joffy didn’t score much but he was a grafter and was brought in to play off Stewart.

then we ended up aiming at players who had never played a senior game or more than 20 in Hemir and Mayenda and grabbed a small striker who’s actually more of a winger from a poor standard league.

there’s markets we should be shopping in which got us Ballard, Hume, Clarke, Cirkin etc and we need to stick to that one

The windows up to and including the 2022 summer window were very good. Since then they’ve been very poor and we’ve wasted a lot of money in my opinion.

We’d have been better off signing one striker (Shankland for example) than the 3 we did.

Totally agree. Strikers are coming at a premium and we need to be prepared to pay that extra couple million. Simms was 3.5m but rising to 8 if they got promoted which wouldn’t be an issue once promoted. These are the markets we need to stick to as it’s shown the most success. I still think Ba, Aouchiche and Seelt will come good mind.

Of course it is, at every club ...

... but you can't deny the value of the squad in miles ahead of when KLD arrived.

And I doubt we'll lose money on the players you've mentioned.

If we do it'll be less than what we wasted on the likes of Grigg.

For every Amad, there's a Burstow ... nothing is guaranteed.

We may not lose money on them, but we may not make money on them either. And football is about winning matches, not just about the bottom line.

The Grigg situation was a joke but I don’t think that’s the barometer to be working against.

Amad was signed by Man U for €25m (reported) and Burstow had scored 2 in 13 or something for Charlton in League One. They were never going to be similar.

I really like AA and I think he’ll prove to be a good signing. But he needs a settled, performing squad in which to integrate and learn. When half the team is doing that, it’s always going to be a struggle.

i am not convinced that KLD will take the same route as the past couple of windows, i believe we already have the 'future sales' who will hopefully improve and gain more game time without having to rely completely on them (i honestly think that was the problem with rusyn and hemir) so i am hoping that this window will see a couple of older heads in there...the type that can help the lads along on the pitch.

now, we have had plenty word in the past from this regime telling us that money will be spent for the right players, imho i think this has to be the time to do just that, of course we still need to follow those players in the 'clarke mould' that have the skills but have lost the way a wee bit but they need to get the balance right...and i certainly do not want to see them hoying millions about just to have a shot at promotion, done right, promotion will soon come without going into serious debt.

Rosenior for one wasn’t impressed with the conduct of staff on our bench at the Hull game up here.

    OK mate, fair enough.

No offence but you seem to have decided to come on here just to trot out the same moans a few others are already posting. Unless you have something different to say I think I'll just lump you in with them and wait to see what happens. Moaning about what may happen is fine but I just can't be bothered with it.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't tell me where you're from, where you live and what was your last game you went to ...

... so you're just another anonymous username and there are already enough of those.

    All the best.

I've been on this forum for donkey's years mate and I've seen it all before.

Rest assured he'll start off like this and gradually get worse then eventually vanish.

In the meantime I'll just ignore him as I do with the rest of his ilk.

    No offence ...

I’m from Durham, live in Washington and my last game was the 1-0 defeat to Millwall. I have a season ticket and have done since I was 14.

My first post wasn’t moaning, it was simply saying that some of the posts I’d read seemed a bit unrealistic. Since then I’ve only answered your questions really and you’ve came off a tad argumentative. You said earlier you’d been on the drink so it may be down to that.

I thought debate and conversation was what online forums were for.

All the best to you too.

Not at all, I'm exactly the same whether I've had a drink or not.

I've just noticed that whenever things aren't good we have an influx of people moaning on here.

When we're doing well they always seem to vanish.

I wouldn't mind if it was something new or informative, interesting and witty ...

... but it's always just the same joyless moans about why we're not spending more money.

So, debate and converse away, I'll leave you to knock yersel out.
