Hello and welcome to the official Not606 match thread for Tuesday's Carling Cup Quarter-Final between Chelsea and Liverpool. Season So Far. Both sides have made a solid start to the season but i'll start with the home team. Chelsea. Andre-Villas-Boas and his side currently sit 5th in the Barclays Premier League table with 25 points from 13 games. Highlights of their season include a 5-1 win at Bolton and a 5-0 win at Genk in the Champions League. Despite these good results, things haven't always gone to plan this season. A 1-0 loss at West-London rivals Q.P.R, a 2-1 defeat at home to Liverpool and a 2-1 loss away at Bayer Leverkusen means that Andre-Villas-Boas has been under pressure. A routine 3-0 win at home to Wolves has helped AVB get his side back on track. In the Carling Cup, things have been a lot better. Fulham took Chelsea to penalties but Chelsea came through that to set up a tie at Everton. Goals from Salomon Kalou and Daniel Sturridge gave Chelsea a 2-1 win and set up a quater-final clash against Liverpool. And some stats about Chelsea this season... And onto the away team. Liverpool currently sit 6th in the Barclays Premier League table with 23 points from 13 games. Highlights of the season include a 2-1 win at Chelsea, a 2-0 win at Everton and a 2-0 win at Arsenal. Like almost all of teams playing in the Premier League, we have had some poor results. a 4-0 loss at Spurs and a 1-0 defeat at Stoke. Overall, Liverpool fans will be reasonably happy with the league form but will see the fact that we haven't killed teams off as a concern. In the Carling Cup, Liverpool have been good. A 3-1 win at Exeter City set us on our way and 2-1 wins at Brighton and Stoke leave us only two wins away from a Wembley appearance. And some stats about Liverpool this season... And a stat to finish this season so far/match preview off. Team/Injury News. Chelsea's John Terry is suspended as he picked up his fifth booking of the season on Saturday. Fernando Torres could start against his former club, but another former Red, Raul Meireles, is cup-tied. Liverpool's Craig Bellamy will return after missing the match with Manchester City on compassionate grounds following the death of Gary Speed. Jamie Carragher is expected to come into the side and Andy Carroll will also be promoted from the bench. Chelsea 0 - 2 Liverpool Goalscorers: Liverpool... Maxi Rodriguez. (58th minute) Liverpool... ----------------Reina------------------- Kelly-----Carra------Coates---??? Maxi-----Spearing---???----Bellamy -----------Carroll-------Kuyt Wilson and Henderson could fill in I suppose. Lucas, Hendo and Adam all put in a huge shift on Sunday. Kuyt is in because he is literally a Duracell battery.
I reckon our team will look like this - Turnbull, Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Alex, Bertrand, Romeu,Josh,Lampard,Malouda,Torres,Kalou
Hello cym,be on your best behaviour or Drogs will kick your arse again. What do you think the score will be tomorrow? I'll go for us 0-1 or 1-2
This will be tough for us. Too many fixtures. Carra will probably play. Lucas and Adam deserve a rest but i'm not convinved they will be. Maybe Henderson and Spearing in the centre, Downie on the right and Maxi on the left. I think we should rest Suarez and bring him on if we have too. Start Carroll. Time to bleed Sterling.
I would have said we should 'blood' him,its sounds less drastic b4f. But while i agree with your point i cant see Chelsea turning out their 1st choice 11 against us in the competition they want least so i reckon because its more of a priority to us than them we'll win it by the odd goal in 3 or one nil.
