Of course we English are more interested in our own team than any other, it's a national obsession. Maybe just a red button option for a neutral alternative would suffice? A bit like the Channel 4 Christmas message.
England is the face of the UK. We are the country that competes on the world stage. Of course we are always going to be talking about England on British TV
The problem for most people isn’t that it happens, its expected now, but the problem is how excessive it is. By all means talk about England but why should a 30 minute build up to France vs Austria be dedicated to dissecting Englands 1-0 borefest win from the night before? I don’t think even England fans want to be reminded of that game
Because we are a big attraction and tournament favourites. Also it’s on British TV so they’re going to keep going back to England, obviously. Up your game for once and Scotland might get more of a mention.
You’re missing the point, I don’t want to hear about Scotland either, are we saying because its on British tv that means they can only talk about British teams? The majority of presenters and panelists are English, so of course they will talk about England but would it be so hard for them to do a bit of research and talk about some other teams we will be watching? Later on its Turkey vs Georgia, not the most exciting game in the world on paper but do a bit of research and educate your audience about these teams and the players we’re about to watch for 90 minutes, but no instead of doing that they will show some pre recorded interview with an England player and ask them what cartoons they watched growing up, its so lazy and provides nothing to us as viewers
No-one cares about Turkey or Georgia, though. They’ve not got any world class footballers. We’ve got a load of them. That’s why we are interesting and everyone wants to hear more about England.
In all seriousness, could you name 10 English World class players in say the last 5 years? For once I am asking a serious question.
Genuine world class? Nope. I doubt there’s a team out there that could. Actually, no team has 10 world class players in 10 years never mind 5.
You said you had loads of them though, that is why I changed my 5 in last 5 years to 10 in the last 5 years! Obviously subjective a bit anyway. Some would say, Kane, but I am not a fan, not even sure why I don't like him. Bellingham definitely will be, possibly Foden even if he was pish the other night. Walker is probably the best right back in the world just now, but I am struggling to think of others.
