Nicholas Jackson tore him a new one in the FA Cup Q/F just by running at him and past him ... just can't afford him to be isolated 1 v 1 ...
Hope it works - but the team line-up does carry a whiff of shoehorning the most well known players in .... just hope it's not unbalanced as a result ...
Tadic not playing, who leaves their captain out FFS. Can see this being a tough match. Serbia have some good players and will be fired up from Denmark dropping points.
I've been fairly critical of his "defending" over the years but in fairness if it's him or the Kelvin Phillips alongside Declan Rice I know who I'm picking. I think it's an interesting dynamic which could work well and I'm hoping that when Stones steps forwards into CDM and beyond (as he does for City) then Walker will fall into a RCB position and TAA cover the RWB role as they also cover those positions pretty regularly too. A kind of dynamic system where players can actually play to their strengths would be shockingly good to see. I actually really like TAA on the ball. There, I said it. I just hope he isn't tracking a good player back into the box at any point in the tournament though.
Agree with all of this. Wouldn't want him in defence but like the idea of him getting on the ball in midfield where Rice can do all the dirty work.
