Definition of a good team for me, the Danes have a couple of excellent players sure, but they play really well together. Think of Belgium, arguably they have a better individual players in nearly every position, but do they have the same team spirit and togetherness? I’m not convinced.
I'm not sure who's considered to be among the fancied teams but if England are one I'd guess the others are putting a little pressure on them. With Germany, Spain, Holland, Italy etc, all winning a draw against Serbia might look like a bad start.
Always been a ‘Trent in midfield’ advocate. Simply for his passing ability. Hope it works in reality.
He will be criticised whatever he does imo. He has picked an attack minded squad, and now a team. Folk are still claiming it is the same old boring rubbish. They must have loved the failure of Capello and Erikson, because Southgates face just doesnt seem to fit. Despite constantly proving better than anyone we have had since Bobby Robson. Anyway, looks a decent side. I would be annoyed if I was a CM and am on the bench instead of Arnold. That said, he can pick the killer pass better than most so like you say he is going for it. Just hope Arnold is prepared to push 10 yards ahead of Rice and disrupt their lines a bit. Haway England, lets get off to a winning start. Nobody yet to be fearful of imo.
Being honest you have to find a place for TAA, his delivery is quality. Our threat going forward makes any team nervous, just got to hope it clicks
No-one can argue that this is not an attacking team. Trent has the ability to unlock a defence in a different way with his brilliant deliveries over the top. I am worried about the defensive side as that back 4 is not our best, but hopefully Rice can do enough to protect them. Hopefully Walker is the full back that roams forward today and Trippier is the one that makes the back 3.
Concerned about our lack of height here. 10/11 Serbian players are 6ft+, I think they can cause some serious damage from set pieces. Massive test for Stones and Guehi against two very good, physical strikers. Also conceded about our left side going forward. Foden will drift infield and Trippier won't be able to overlap due to being on the wrong side, Shaw has to play when he is 100%. I do think we will win comfortably though, our attack is arguably the best at the tournament. Quick passes through the lines and players running beyond Kane when he drops deep. I expect Jude to have a hatful of chances from them scenarios where he becomes the 9. 3-1 England. Kane x2 and Jude.
The bookies have England and France joint favourites with Germany and Portugal closely behind. They don’t really give any other teams a chance.
There's yet to be an absolute stinker of a match. Anyway, England are on soon..... I'd love to see them come out swinging and blow them away, which they are absolutely capable of.
Happy with the side going forward, however, the defensive side of the team is a big concern for me. Hopefully we have enough. I'll go 2-0 England
61% win rate, just gone above Bobby Robson in the list of England managers. Imagine Robson in charge of these lads....
