I’ve pushed this series to everyone but if you haven’t already seen it I can recommend Deutschland 83, followed by 86 and 89. It’s a German made (English subtitles for the idiots like me who can’t speak German) Cold War military drama told primarily by the East German point of view. Well worth the watch imo.
Great isn't it, I love how real it is it's like you're seeing things that are actually happening and nobody's noticed the camera. Even his daughter is a natural. Some of the funniest dialogue I've ever heard and the action is top drawer. I have to restrain myself or I'll babble about it endlessly. I haven't seen the AK film, think I've got it on dvd somewhere I take it I should dig it out? I liked the series it was a fun watch.
The action is so grounded it's quite amazing. It looks like you're watching an actual fight at times. Rarely see that on TV. AK film is incredibly different, series was very glamorous, film was incredibly gritty. Well worth a watch.
Mr Inbetween is right up there with the very best I've watched. I believe the aussie sense of humour works for your average brit more than the yank sense of humour! So the funny bits work and feel more real. As does Ray, he is believable 'Mr Inbetween' sums him up aswell not good but not all bad either!
Rewatching The Shield for about the 100th time currently. Highly recommend if anyone hasn't seen it. Quite an old one, Kurt Sutters show before he made Sons of Anarchy.
Just binged a gentleman in Moscow, v v good, well acted great story, spoiler alert there won’t be a season two.
Just finished "Masters of the air". Lots of very humbling moments as there always is in these shows depicting war. The same undertone as with Band of Brothers of the British are pompous and ****e, everyone else is class but none more so than the Americans.
