An FC fan in the HDM comments said it was a fantastic attendance that the rest of SL would be glad of. Which doesn’t say much about the rest of SL’s attendances to be honest.
Looked around 12000. Not too shabby considering the run of results and increasing acrimony towards the owner. City were getting around that figure during the darkest days of the Allams not too long ago.
There was more there than at Rovers on Friday, despite rovers boasting about their record breaking sell out streak! Every club goes through their dark days, to still pull in 12k for a rugby league game despite the season they’ve had is actually respectable.
I think if they did start being top 4 regulars with a better style of Rugby, then they could be getting 14 to 15k most weeks, which for a 2 team City, and Rovers getting 9 or 10k isn't too shabby to be fair
FC’s largest ever average was only 14,000. Don’t see that being repeated with current day prices unless they become a dominant force like Wigan when they were winning the league and Cup double nearly every year for a decade or so.
The two Hull teams have some of the best attendances in Super League when you consider a combination of the following: The size of the city. The fact there are two teams to split the population. There’s a football club pulling in 20k plus every other week. It’s not an affluent area. Both teams have been pretty awful for the best part of three decades. It’s expensive, a season ticket for Hull FC in the middle of the East Stand is 25% more per game than for City. Both clubs attendance numbers are not boosted by large numbers of away fans like the other Super League clubs are. For football to pull in 20k a game and the combined Rugby League teams to do the same is great for the City.
Can't think why rugby away fans bottle coming to Hull. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
