Show me where he gave up being Canadian. And as the Manc said, English is not a nationality so you could never be right. The nationality of someone from the United Kingdom is British, although some people prefer to call themselves English, Scottish, Welsh, or Northern Irish. It is incorrect and may cause offence to call all British people `English'. You can refer to all the people who come from Britain as the British. What is the difference between Britain, British and Briton? - English collinsdictionary.com https://grammar.collinsdictionary.com › english-usag Just face it, you’re wrong. My statement is correct namely that he is Canadian. You’re statement could never be correct namely that he was English. And here endeth the lesson.
It’s gone all deep in here. For the record I’m English and British. I don’t give a crap what nationality he is. Is he signing for us?
Again its not as simple as that though. He would have to apply for it. He may have chosen not to as he also had a right to Nigerian citizenship and later British citizenship (maybe). I am not sure he actually needs the latter to play for England. If his parents had applied for, and been granted, British Citizenship, or his grandparents were British then under FIFA rules he could be selected to play for England. Presumably he could also choose to play for Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.
We still debating what the ****er's nationality is? He's from all over the ****ing place like all black players are, ie all black French players have links to African countries and could play for them if they wanted. This guy also has Canada thrown in the mix cos he was born there...although seeing as he moved to England when he was a year old, no part of him will feel Canadian. He's good enough to play for England, so he doesn't need to use his parents to become an international. Like when Shola could t get anywhere near the England team, so in his 30s became a Nigeria player with the thickest Geordie accent ever.
No. He was born there, therefore, he automatically has Canadian citizenship. He can have more than one nationality but in any event he is Canadian. He could always have given that up but there is nothing out there to say he has.
You are right. Looks like Canada is one of the few countries that applies it automatically at birth with rare exceptions.
