I know it has been covered abit, but have just found out one of the three is the son of my mum's mate.
He wrote what happened on saintsweb but thought i'd repost here:

Haven't posted for months but thought I'd come and set the record straight before you get people making assumptions and thinking that we perhaps deserved it, gave it the large one and got a slap, because it was not like that at all. It was completely unprovoked and ridiculous.

Basically we walked past a pub and some lads stormed out asking where we were from, then one asked for my phone, I said we were from nowhere and that I didn't have a phone, he swung for me and I ducked it, then he kicked me, we walked off after that thinking that was that. About 15 minutes later, still lost looking for Bristol Temple Meads we realise we're being followed by a group of them, 10-15 I'd say, and there was 3 of us. They get closer starting to shout 'Oi!' but we ignore it and carry on walking. When they got really close, one mate legged it, I turned to see about 5 or 6 of them just laying into my mate... I couldn't leave him so I went over to try and get some off him (he had his face kicked after being dragged to the ground) but then I had 4 or 5 on me just throwing punches and trying to grab me... Don't know how long this went on for but we took a beating, being so outnumbered it was difficult to even defend ourselves. Afterwards they were shouting "WE ARE BRISTOL CITY" and such, think they were quite proud a large group just beat up 2 people who made it clear they didn't want it.

Spent ages with the police and then in a+e where yes, my mate suffered a fractured cheek bone. I seem to have got off lightly with only a few sore spots on my head and that but it could have been a lot worse. It was f*cking stupid.

Some Saints fans walked past the police van and insinuated that we must have said something to make it kick off, but I think it'd have been incredibly stupid for 3 of us to say something to a pub full of lads. Wrong place, wrong time.

The guy that ran off went to get the police, but by the time they got back it was to late.
My mum also got told one of the three noticed one of the guys that beat them up get into a car.
He managed to get the plate number and gave it to the police, the police said it wasn't registered in bristol and it could have been a saints fan anyway.
Umm yeah makes sence that :s

Very sad to hear that some of us had a bad time at an away game. I've been to a good number over the past 3-4 seasons and seen no problems. Quite the opposite, I think we are generally well received by home fans.
Goes to show we must be careful and stick together a bit more when going to or from the ground.
No doubt this will cause some reprisals when Bristol come down to SMS

I bet they were mouthing off in the ground, thinking they'd be safe, shouldn't give it the mouth if you don't want any repercussions

It's disgusting, people shouldn't need to "be careful" going to a football ground, can't believe how people think they're big when in a group starting on 3 people.

This has been lifted word for word from saints web. Unless you provide a picture of your mum, I will think you are lying.

Bristol seem to want to prove something to southcoast clubs of the pitch. After the match in August, I was on my way back to Temple meads when 5 Yokels started chasing me. Keep in mind these were all mid 20's/30's all trying to kick a 17 year old in. Just by luck I went round a corner and there was a large group of Pompey. I don't know why they feel they have a score to settle or something especially with Pompey. Their probably still bitter that we beat them in the cup or took their main boozer. The way I see it is if you really feel the need to have a scrap (not trying to encourage it), keep it evens.

Sorry to hear that mate, it's never a good thing to find out about, these people don't deserve to call themselves football fans.

It's just one side of the story. You can't just believe everything you read.

A crowd of Bristol City fans caused trouble leaving Upton Park after the West Ham game a few weeks ago. It does seems there's an element from down there that's still stuck in the 1970's which is where this crap belongs.

West ham fans just laughed at em. We did the same when they came down Goldsmith Avenue last year giving it the biggun from behind the horses and dogs. Just treat them as you would any bullies. Stand your ground and they soon go quiet.

Why anyone would walk back to Temple Meads i'll never know. If i'm going out, I get a taxi to park street, that's half the distance.

I know Bristol fairly well, as my Gran and Grandad use to live there. The weather was nice and its only 30mins walk which i don't mind. In reference to me being chased, it did kind of liven things up. The match was well boring unless you were in the stands.

I get to spend one week per month in Bristol through my job and really wouldn't fancy walking up to Temple Meads from the ground to be honest. I'm based at Bedminster which can be interesting at night if you're not careful..
