the same old heads down meek surrender stuff that root was fired over.

a whalloping defeat. root was the only one really who did anything and its a procession of people going out to just uand over a wicket.

    bazz ball?

forget it. if its to swing with closed eyes then it's wrong.

if its to be positive in attitude and look to score then there's a lot of ways to score without throwing wickets away

the one win was a bit of robbery but it was always likely to be a beating in the subcontinent as England have never and just can't play against spin and don't back their own spin.

the couple of lads who went to play did OK for themselves. they won't be seen in the summer. thats the English way. one spinner and if we can have it be root.

And England potentially dodged an opening match defeat chasing over 100 from just 10 overs... We'll never know, but Scotland deffo got a point from a match they probably crossed off their list of getting anything from...!!

Bloody stupid for a WC of any sport to be decided by weather
Ridiculous - can’t take it seriously
There has to be a way to get around this in this day and age
Tennis manage it do t see why cricket can’t

    Wow it gets better
So Australia can rest players and hand Scotland a safe passage through to the super 8s because a game got rained off <laugh>

Josh Hazlewood looks to all but have admitted as much over on the interview on BBC

why can the game not just be played the day after
When it’s rained off in a World Cup
    Seems bonkers
    It’s a genuine question

I would love to watch it but it seems so pointless if that’s what can happen

If England go out it will be because we lost to Australia not because game was washed out v Scotland. Scotland were in a super strong position against us so if anything Scotland can feel hard done by as if they’d have beaten us they’d already be through.

And I’d imagine the reason can’t just be replayed is for logistical reasons. You’d have to get police/security sorted for next game - the ground might be being used by a different team the following day.

What happens if multiple games are called off due to weather? Do you then replay all of them and then have fixture congestion’s. Logistically just can’t do it so have to give point each. Swings and roundabouts sometimes might benefit 1 team, might benefit the other.

But 1 called off game shouldn’t be the reason that England go out. Win your other 3 games and you go through no problem. England can still go through anyway. Smash moan and Namibia which they should do and they’ll overtake Scotland net run rate meaning Scotland will have to beat Australia

....but not if Australia let Scotland win, which is what Hazlewood was implying. Though I imagine (hoping?) it's all just mind games.

If they let them win then Australia captain will be banned for 2 matches for breaching code of conduct. Not sure it’s really worth the risk.

    <cheers>
Fair enough and cheers for responding
Get what you are saying but the game with Australia can go either way the draw with Scotland has put the power in Australias hands - and Hazlewood is implying they will lose the game and if any country would do that it’s Australia
They are ruthless and look to win by any means necessary

I still feel the games could be replayed day after
As I mentioned - tennis manage it and their games can be 4 hours long
Just seems odd that in a World Cup there is no fore thought on this

Australia’s reserves should beat Scotland. And if the reserves play they’ll want to do well to ensure they potentially get picked in the knockouts if someone is injured etc.

Just can’t see any Australian deliberately getting out.

    That’s the other thing
Usually in comps like this the final games are played simultaneously
    Just all seems very wrong

There won't be enough **** grounds in the USA (madness) to play off the games at once
