hope not. lets hope that they use saturdays negative and turn it into a tuesday positive. attack attack, its the best form of defence.
Adkins expects Tigers backlash Southampton boss Nigel Adkins is expecting a Hull backlash when the two sides meet on Tuesday. The Tigers surrendered a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 against Burnley on Saturday, while Saints suffered a rare defeat at Bristol City. Despite his side having won nine out of nine at home, Adkins is taking nothing for granted when Nicky Barmby's charges visit St Mary's. "It's going to be a good game, an exciting one," he told Saints player. "Like us on Saturday, Hull have dominated their game for 75 minutes and there was only going to be one winner, but goals change games. "That result will benefit them in the long term because they will learn from that." So - City - give 'em a game!!!
Scrap what I said - he's on his way for his scan now. We definately miss tomorrow. But as you say, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a few weeks that he's out for. Big blow.
If you don't mind me asking, don't get defensive or nothing but how much have you seen of Southampton?
not at all. what i have seen of southampton on the tele box is most refreshing and is typical of a nigel adkins team. but i do get the impression that you have had a fair amount of luck - which is fair enough as all teams need luck. i was not wum-ing as has been suggested and i dont think that hull city will win every game. the point i was trying to make is that i dont think that all your wins have been as dominant as the media make out. i think our forwards and wingers can get at your back line. hence why i said it should be a cracker of a game if both are on it. sorry if i have come accross as anything else. may the best team win and if its Southampton then fair enough. i would rather you win the league than west ham. alas i fear that they are now moving into position to dominate the league soon. there game at Middlesboro at the same time may tell us a little more about them.
Fair enough but i honestly still don't know what you base the luck theory on,i'm trying to be as unbiase as i can and i can genuinely say that i don't know where you get that theory from,i just don't.Also i think it's gonna be a mega tough game tomorrow and i'm a little concerned about it if truth be told, you're a good team so no-one will be underestimating you.
I think we have had luck sometimes, but then you make your own luck. We play expansive football which can wear other teams out. I have always said that we are not invincible because we don't keep enough clean sheets. However, we will many more games than we lose.
Of course there has been some lucky occasions, that goes for every team in the league but to say luck is the reason that we are top is plain and simple ignorance.
I'm interested to hear from TFT which wins does he think that we achieved luckily. We have battered Boro, Brum,Watford,Leeds,Ipswich,Coventry,Brighton and should've beaten West Ham, Peterboro,Barnsley by more. That just leaves Forest and Millwall and we had more goal attempts in both of those matches, so where exactly are these mythical lucky wins that you speak of Tickler? (don't tell me you can tell we are lucky from 5 minutes of highlights on TFLS...)
You don't become the highest scorers, with a goal difference of +21 from 18 games, through luck. GD is a good indicator of how dominant a team has been.
Past performance is no indication of future showing. I'm cacking myself. This game just has to be got out of the way, as all variables would indicate an interesting fixture...therefore it's gonna be a bore draw! Nurse, nurse...it's time for my medicine I think.
Any particular bit of luck that stands out? Because I can't remember any, we're top on merit because we've been the best team and got the best results by playing the best Football. That's not arrogance, that's fact.
Adkins is always as positive and enthusiastic as that isn't he? He'd expect a great game of football if it was Stoke V Watford with Mike Jones in charge I don't want to reignite this debate but in your game against Brighton didn't they get a man sent off in the first half for dissent? I might be wrong, but if true that would certainly affect the rest of the game and must be partly why you beat them 3-0, especially as the dissent incident also involved you getting a dodgy penalty (I think).
Indeed. Adkins is the most positive and enthusiastic person you are ever likely to come across. So refreshing. As for Tarricco, he did get sent-off for dissent, but it was in the 2nd half. We were already 1-0 up, and already had the penalty ready for 2-0.
