And maybe you'll be right. I'm hoping that adding his recovery pace into a fairly slow paced central defence will improve us. I just don't want to write a player off before he's had a training session with the team, let alone kicked a ball in anger for us.
Aye this Eddie prefers English players is a myth. His ideal first 11 without injuries was always looking like Pope (England International) Burn (English) Botman (Dutch) Schar (Swiss) Trippier (England International) Bruno (Brazilian) Joelinton (Brazilian) Tonali (Italian) Gordon (England International) Miggy (Paraguayan) Isak (Swedish) Not exactly a first 11 bursting with English plodders. With only 4 English players (3 of whom are Internationals signed on Howe's watch). 7 foreign players (7 Internationals of which 4 have signed on Howe's watch)
I think you may be over reacting here. The kid by all accounts is a solid top half defender which in the grand scheme of things we need. At his incumbent club he is highly regarded. He’s also free and English so I have absolutely no issues with this signing. Being a free it may even mean we sign a mahoosive player. Come on man. Have some faith.
That 11 gets us top 4 all day long. We just need the players around them to be good enough. And I think we have most of them. 2/3 new signings and we are good to go for top four next season.
Sounds like the right forward position is a priority this summer, so the Olise money would probably then be partially spent on Madueke or another.
Miserable wumming aside, I actually think Madueke for half the price of Olise would be an absolute steal. He was outstanding at PSV (I wanted us to get him then) and has shown a lot at Chelsea. Bit of coaching and a front three with him Gordon and Isak is terrifying. Minteh on the bench and sack off both Almiron and Murphy please! Solanke is a good player just not the most pressing. Think he’d be too expensive. LB is now sorted bar selling Targett. RCB still an issue but we tried to sort with Tosin so I imagine it’s in the works. RW Madueke, presumably Trafford means GK is done.
Apparently we have made a 60m bid for Olise but he’s clearly going to choose Chelsea over us unless we can make the kid think logically. He would just be part of a merry go round there where as he would possibly become a hero here.
Makes no sense. Where they get £60m from and why, when they have Palmer and Madueke, they feel the need is beyond me. Olise going there says a lot about him as well. I’d prefer Madueke.
Indeed. You could say that we have Miggy and Murphy mind. Not as good though. It would just be nice for once for a player to not just choose London because it’s London and think more about his career.
Palmer, Madueke and Olise. Or Miggy and Murphy. I mean……. All I’d add is that Olise was at Chelsea for 8 years - another they let go - and he’s a London lad. Madueke was in Netherlands not long ago. I’d rather take him, I think there’s a good deal there.
I hate Chelsea ****s stole our champions league spot after their roman takeover... they don't talk about that though do they...they were a nothing club... yet here we are listening to this drivel that they're a bigger club historically and concerns that Newcastle might be allowed to buy their place back at the top with them. Right now they are annoying us in transfer windows.
The thing is I heard Chelsea have got problems making up the deal financially, but we've heard all this before.
