head to head on taxation ...what is the real truth behind the argument? the lesser parties dont actually have a clue of the wider picture they just cherry pick a subject and take it the the ER is dumb enough to vote for that and not consider the rest

a fair way would be that all parties launch their manifesto's then an independant body publish's a listing of say the top 12 things on the table and what and how they propose to orchestrate them should they be next.gov
    ALONG THE LINES OF .

£100m on [ just say as an example ] potholes over next 4 years .. funded by raising road tax / or tax / or 1p on litre fuel / insurance premium / etc or by greater productivity in doing repairs quicker!

    excuse me................... !!!

    Sir Keir Starmer commented ...
"If we could grow the economy at anything like the level the last Labour government did, that’s an extra £70bn worth of investment for our public services," he added.

Well they had the best of the tax revenue fronm the oil/gas fields [ now a lot less ] sold our gold!! borrowed the odd £trn gave everyone more money by "wasting the aforesaid items .... then lost to next .GOV to put it right ... when economy went into austerity mode to pay back the debts!

The Tories used to be the champions of low taxes, yet they have taxed us to bits. We are now taxed more than ever before.
Where is all our money going?
We were promised all the money going to the EU would be redirected to the NHS - one of the Brexit pledges (lies).
Our roads and infrastructure is broken. The NHS is broken. Schools don’t have enough teachers. The military is on its knees (we couldn’t stop another Argy invasion on the Falklands - let alone stopping Putin). The economy has flatlined - but we are still taxed to fk.
    It SCREAMS mismanagement.

    I agree
The pandemic put somewhat of a spanner in the works, but as to where is the money going ? Here are a few examples
Welfare payments to the lazy (and those who are genuinely unable to work) are off the scale and growing by the month and it's costing billions as is Adult Social Care,
Old Age Pensions payments with an ever ageing population are astronomical and there's no reserve pot of gold (Brown sold it!). The Government has to have at least that amount in revenue coming in per month before people can even be paid. There is no vast 'pension pot' where our NI goes accruing interest, it's all paid for on a month by month basis.
Immigration and the associated carryings on costs us many billions of £'s a year
Labour don't have a magic wand and I don't believe anything will change aside from taxes will go up when they come to power.
That's what all Governments will have to do just to make ends meet.

It all comes back to the same issue in the end. There are simply too many people in the country wanting their share of the dwindling amounts of money, not enough contributions for Tax and NI are being made, and in some respects like the NHS I believe the vast funding they are given could be much better managed.

That’s the conundrum, how do you allocate MP’s to constituencies, I do believe in constituency MP’s, so everyone has a local MP.

started listening to "catch up" Labour manifesto and the presentation is following on from the Bliar years of slower speech with stops to allow encouraged applause .

His manifesto is Tory based .. and his voice just drones me to boredom ...

The problem with voting for The Reform Party is that it will pretty much only be disillusioned historical Torie voters who will vote for them. Historical Labour voters are still convinced their mob will be better, so they won't vote any other way......
Those who can see that the answer to any hope of a change for our country does not rest with the Tories or Labour are not, IMO, enough to make a significant dent, so if you're a historical Torie voter and move your vote to the Reform party, you're just giving Labour a bigger winning majority.

I agree, surely it would be better to vote Tory, rather than split the right wing vote, to split the vote just gifts Labour more seats. Then if Tories lose decide how best to regroup. Either main party needs all sections to win an election, splitting into different factions is never going to work.

I think that's what will happen essentially
Reform might well win Clacton with Farage as a candidate and Lee Anderson might win Ashfield in Nottinghamshire. But that's only 2 seats
If people keep attacking politicians when they are just going about their business, no one will be allowed near them. It's bad enough we lost Jo Cox and Sir David Ames. We don't want any more idiots murdering innocent people who were doing their job.

a split vote will be a disaster ...just hope people see sense and vote for what the country is really achieving not what some of the spin doctors state it is in or we can do better but using tory ideas and following theirideas and chuckingin a few that seem to be game changers.

ploughing through " GB energy " articles/ comments/ assessments it is hard to find what exactly it is when you hear how it is spouted as some miraculous magic wand to sort out all all our energy bills commercial and domestic .. they say it will generate anything from 3 to 5000 or more jobs!!! ...doing what! assume .. 4000 thats £200m highest figure quoted was 9000 = £500m+ .. what is it? ...........

We will harness Britain’s sun, wind and wave energy to:
    • Save £93 billion for UK households.
    • Deliver one hundred percent clean power by 2030.
    • Cut energy bills for good.
    • Create thousands of good local jobs.
    • Deliver energy security.
    • Make the UK energy independent.
    • Labour will build an energy system for the future, run for the British people.
so what they going to do start building wind turbines solar stations build estuary dams to use the power of water each tide circle? IT doesnt say anything except "harness" ..and all those things are currently in force! .. maybe tax them???

I can’t see the Tories winning John, they are right to try to use the renewables that are in abundance around our island. Also we need to rebuild our manufacturing base, if we can combine the two, why not.

I don’t know whether their plan will work, but I do know everything is broken and whether you like it or not, the Tories have to take responsibility, as it’s happened on their watch.

Nope not at all -voting for the two main party's is the same old same old -if we want change then give @reform ago -and the nonsense about voting @conservatives and allowing @labour in is rubbish.

If every Brexiter voted @reform they will be in power.
