That's not the point I'm making I'm saying when they are serving politicians, that should be their only job. No conflict of interests by having a side hustle as a director of a company. If you're making policy, then you should not be anywhere near an industry than can benefit from your political decisions.
Why though ? Surely a sitting MP should be free from all conflicts of interest ? You're one of those brown envelope back hander Politicians aren't ya .... 'Mr Welshie, we would like to build our new oil fired power plant on that nature reserve and we know that you are a non sitting director of Shell and collect a healthy dividend each year, so how about we give you a little extra financial incentive to get this through parliament eh? Nobody really cares about frogs and newts anyway, and you can claim that the money was for consultancy work you did for us, there's a good chap'
Getting a real insight into Welshie's political leanings this week Praising Boris and Farage a few days ago and now admitting that he supports MP's having dodgy side hustles to top up their meagre incomes.
so anyone who set up a business and is still a director couldn't be an MP nor could those NHS workers who are also MP's after all you moaned they were out of touch and then remove a link to most peoples reality.. These things aren't just black and white
Do they continue to work as doctors if they are elected ? That’s a genuine question, because im not sure how they can juggle both positions It’s a slightly different issue I suppose from a company director using their position to influence policy but point taken
Combining an MPs surgery with a Doctor's surgery could save both time and trouble. You could pop in to discuss concerns about school places in your area, and get your hemmarrhoids checked at the same time
