What's wrong with the statement is that it doesn't give any positive update. Everything that's said is what we were expecting to have taken place anyway.....we'd have been distraught if it wasn't. Of course we would be expecting the final stages of the process and an appointment very soon. The fact he thanks us for our support and patience throughout the summer......when we haven't even got to summer yet.....speaks of a hastily conceived note to try to put things on hold for a while longer. Not what I, a supporter of the KLD regime, would have expected.
I long for the days when it was announced on teletext that Terry Butcher was our new player manager, that did depress you ! No google in them days, I remember my uncle going ballistic, he kept saying hes been retired longer than your grandad
The statement does nothing for anyone. It is meaningless, some took it to mean it was "imminent", others thought it meant we are a while away yet.
If we'd have known it would later inherit the arrival of Mick Buxton,we'd have been even more suicidal!
It's a mid-pont check-in. "Yes we know there are issues, yes it's taking time but we want to get the right guy. Stick with us and trust us"
Other clubs are focused on their own issues, nobody except Sunderland fans care about when we hire a head coach.
This is true. How many of us have a 2nd thought to Leeds doing the same thing last year? I only knew about it because I work with a few Leeds fans.
That’s mostly true however I’ve had 2 lads at work ask if we have a manager yet over the last few days (1 mag, 1 Man U fan). Plus my mate in Derby has asked me this week. So people are noticing but on the whole they don’t really care.
