It’s not, actually. What’s clear is we have very little to spend up to end of June due to the big losses of the previous three years, with the first of those 3 being the worst. July 1st that first year hit drops off, plus other deals from 23/24 kick in and we’re in a good place.

Financially we will have employed the best minds in sport to deal with everything. The only concerns I have aren’t about money, but about the manager and whether we progress or continue to strengthen the subs bench.

I've heard very specific figures and it's because it they spend more than around 50 million it'll only catch up again next summer. The sponsorship deals etc are all factored in and 30 million in sales.

    And he won’t be sold.

I think we will have a good 50-100m to spend. Which is fine.

The roughly 50 million spend was inclusive of everything from sales (30 million), new sponsorships, but not the Guimareas sale.

Again, you’re clearly not factoring the normal football business in to your assumptions. Our amortisation levels are dropping like a stone this year. Wilson, miggy, trippier, burn, Kraft, wood, asm, Shelvey all off amortisation.

We need to remember amortisation. A £60M player over 5 years is only £12M this year. 3 of these would be excellent and only £36M

Yes. But I’m suggesting we will probably only spend between 75-100m anyways.

Anymore well that’s a brucy bonus.

Do I trust the club with money?! Absolutely. Do I currently trust Howe to spend it well? Not yet.

But thats the end of it really. I think we’ll get a marquee signing or two.

Don’t we also have to pay for Hall now as well? Seem to remember that it was initially done as a loan to stop us breaching FFP. Not sure how much the initial loan fee was but the agreed sale price was £28million without the add-ons.

Yep. That’s what I meant. It’s a hit on our new season transfer budget.

Just to point out that alongside Botman and Trippier I also had Sesko and Madueke on my list of 10 players I wanted us to sign back when we were first taken over on this very forum. Reckon I should be our head scout.

Ah you were right to wait. I did have Botman and Trippier in my original list but Madueke I was commenting on the following year, still a year prior to him going to Chelsea mind:

    upload_2024-6-11_23-45-9.png

I even said £30m and he went for £28.5m
