Nobody thought our home performances or results were good enough over the season, but they improved significantly after Stoke and most were happy with our performances after that (even though we still didn't get enough wins).
Shockingly bad. But even worse was that we only won 2, yes only 2, at home in 2024!! It wasn't getting better, it was getting worse!!
But that was because teams came and parked the bus, played for a draw, played negatively. The bastards.
Dont think anyone denies the home form was bad. But fact is we still improved. We went from 15th to 7th and were a hair away from playoffs. I've seen a lot on here say had the forms been reversed he'd probably still be in a job right now given not only did we win more games away we also performed much better. The same tactics that were unbeaten in 6 prior to the plymouth game?
Yes....thats the ones.....the ones that didnt get us in the play offs and the ones that rightly got rosenior the tin tack
You mean like all those conveniently omitting other stats to fit the narrative of beating Rosenior with a stick? Like your own post talking about home form in a vacuum?
but home form is what attracts the fans and the season tickets - 20 to 24k - being very good away and piss poor at home is a recipe for disaster - which is why we have a crap atmosphere and frustration with the way we play - it also affects advertising, hospitality etc - so I wasn't being selective, I was highlighting just how bad our bread and butter is
Not disagreeing with the home being poor and subsequent impacts. I was pointing out the home form doesn't tell the full story of Rosenior's tenure in the same way me pointing out the 6 games prior to plymouth doesn't either.
If Liam does join them, I wish him the best of luck. I think he will find their supporters will be more critical than ours if they are not liking what they are seeing. However, I am sure Liam will have reflected on what happened with us, and in a way, might have been a blessing in disguise for him, as he may well have learnt from his experience. I guess as always TWT.
I hope he has personally. He definitely needs to because his playing style from what we saw isn't the finished article yet. It's not terrible (we did finish 7th afterall) but it's not promotion winning stuff just yet, not even close.
I would agree most were surprised of the decision because of the contract extension earlier in the season, I don't agree that most were disappointed or thought it was the wrong decision.
It seems that Sunderland haven't been able to attract the Managers they've been associated with. Neither has there been a clamour of interest in Rosie from any Championship teams with a realistic prospect of play-offs this season. Rosie therefore might be the best of the poor options that's available for Sunderland. Similarly Sunderland might be the best of the poor choices available for Rosie. I would suspect Jack Clarke and Jobe Bellingham won't be there come the close of the summer transfer window, so I don't rate Sunderlands chances this year.
If they bring Rosie in they'll have a stable season if the players can execute his style of play. If he's learned from us and willing to adapt his style to create more good chances he could do well for them. He's not a bad manager. I just don't think he's at that level yet to take a club up to the prem.
It looks like Sunderland fans are about to find out for themselves anyway, as it looks like he's about to be appointed.
