Good Morning. It's Tuesday 11th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Brenden has unfinished business at ER USA International Brenden Aaronson has committed his future (short term at-least) to Leeds Utd, after answering Daniel Farke's SOS, expressing that he has unfinished business at Elland Road. The 23yo attacking midfielder/winger was one of the first of many to flee the club last Summer following relegation to the Championship, and found temporary solice in the form of Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin. He had a truly terrible start to his loan spell, but came good towards the end, and was instrumental in helping keep them keep their top flight status. The Philadelphia native has a lot to prove to the Elland Road faithful, but they forgave Gnonto after going on strike, so why not Aaronson. Will Daniel Farke try the same tact with fellow former Red Bull players Rasmus Kristensen and Max Wober? please log in to view this image Aaronson could have left on a free loan again The Athletic have this morning insisted that Brenden Aaronson rejected the opportunity to use the loan clause in his contract to activate another spell away from Elland Road next season, prompting speculation why Real Betis have such a strong hold over Marc Roca! It is widely accepted that only two Leeds players have the rights to extend their loans, for so long as Leeds remain away from the Premier League, and one of those has to be Jack Harrison. If Aaronson is the other, it makes no sense that Real Betis are playing hard ball over Marc Roca, even rejecting the chance to sign him permanently for just £3m, even though he was one of their best players last season. "Aaronson still had an active release clause in which he could have left on a free loan again and had interest in Germany, but opted to return to Leeds." please log in to view this image Leeds winning race for monster defender Leeds Utd are plotting the £2m capture of Republic of Ireland U21 International Anselmo García MacNulty. The monster centre-back applies his trade in the Eredivisie for PEC Zwolle, and was a top target for Leicester City before winning promotion back to the Premier League. He came through the youth ranks at Real Betis before ending up in the Netherlands, after a spell at Wolfsburg. He has been described as an incredibly technical player, but also dominates in the air too with his 6’5″ frame. He has also caught the eye of Southampton and Club Brugge, but it is understood that Leeds are currently leading the race for the 21yo. please log in to view this image
Morning all. Irrelevant in my opinion whether Aaronson is forgiven or not. The sole job of the modern supporter at a game is to support whoever wears the shirt on any particular day.We will always voice our opinions on social media or whatever but on match day we've one job to do. After all, if we hadn't seen first hand how hopeless he is wed be excited at him joining. Am I happy about any of the rates returning? No but have to trust Farkes judgement. Now for this monster. defender. Is he a monster by other clubs standards making him around 6ft 5" or a monster by our standards which would have him around 5ft 6"
Wasn't it Hay that said the only 2 players with the loan release clause this season were, Harrison and Roca, now he's saying its only 2 and 1 of them is Aaronson. Roca has said himself he has the clause, so as I said a few weeks back, I was surprised Harrison had it, as these contracts were only given out in Marsch's first start to a season and Harrison signed his contract before then.
didn’t Harrison sign a new agreement after the January window fiasco where radz tried to sell him to Leicester and the 49ers had to step in? My thought is he had a relegation/loan release clause built in then. Dunno… just guessing
I stand corrected, I didn't realise he'd signed that. So they gave him that contract in April, when it was odds on we were going down, only for him to leave 4 months later. Priceless
Morning all I mentioned a while back that I’d heard Harrison going out on loan was a club decision to save money and he was surplus with Summerville, Gnonto and James. If that is the case then it explains Roca and Aaronson. Personally, I feel Harrison probably has the clause leaving one more. I think it’s one of two scenarios, nobody wants Aaronson for the wage he is expecting so he has no option but to return. Or It’s a smoke screen, he doesn’t have the option but the clubs not silly, we’re not going to forgive him and welcome him back, let’s say he wants to return and hope the fans are a bit easier. I actually think he might turn into a decent squad player, my personal choice would be sell him but that’s not happening. Bottom line is, he wants to fight for a place, Farke wants him back, it is one less headache to sort. Now the club can concentrate on the other rats and who needs to be sold. Just read Summerville is happy to remain at the club and will not be handing in a request to move, he is happy to focus on another promotion drive
I hope this is true, but at the same time it may be out of his control if we need to raise the cash for FFP reasons. Gnonto is another one, mind you, not heard anything about his move apart from to Italy. Anyone else heard anything outside of the usual click bait stories.?
I’ve not read that anywhere. Don’t want to be cynical but players rarely put in transfer requests as it affects bonuses, signing on fees etc.
If Aaronson really is back at Farke's request, I can only think Rutter is one of the ones we are considering selling. I can't see any way both play in the same line up. Loved Rutter up until Christmas but since, he seems to have spent more time losing possession or going to ground looking for Free Kicks than actually impacting the game. He is very frustrating with his lack of passing to team mates and can't shoot for toffee so, you could say, Aaronson would be the ideal replacement and allows for a chunky transfer fee coming in. Who knows, Aaronson may thrive at this level. Only Emu can rate Firpo less than I do but, hands up, I thought he was close to outstanding in the second half of the season once he got over his injury problems. With regards to the likes of Coops and Shackleton, I'm not reading too much into it. The club is likely offering reduced terms and inserting agreed sale prices into the contracts. Rightly in my opinion, that rewards a couple of guys who, for all of their limitations, have been loyal to the club. It is a bit rich bemoaning the lack of loyalty in modern players and then saying in the next breath the club should feck them off because they are useless or past it. In both cases, I have very little doubt they will find new clubs and we will get some kind of fee for them, no real drama here. If the Summerville news is true that would be fantastic (would far rather Gnonto leaves if one of them has to go) but, as DJ says, it may not be in his hands. Of course, it could be complete coincidence that he would get a much bigger slice of the pie if he is sold without requesting a transfer
Nah, disagree. Correct that the teams' results went down after that but it also coincided with other players coming back from International duty injured and the Welsh lads having the penalty shootout heartbreak but don't think Georgie was all that after Christmas tbh. Teams seemed to suss him out and block him / win back prossession from him quite easily but the team as a whole fought like bandits and put together an incredible sequence of results. Hey ho, all about opinions I guess
