Also to add to this, I see people using players like Delap and Connolly in regards to "THAT squad" they both had failed loan spells and **** seasons before rosenior. Philogene was a young lad from villa that had subpar loan spells before hull too. The only reason people seem to rave about that squad is because of Carvalho, Zaroury and Ryan Giles. You can bring in good players but if they don't work in the system you've been doing well with, they don't work.

I feel like the hull squad is being overrated massively

Didn’t Hull have a lot of injuries to contend with? Sure I read that somewhere.

People keep going on about how strong his squad was, but I don’t think it was anything special. I’d say overall the squads for the top 6, plus Boro & Coventry are better than Hull’s.

Hull had a run of 5 games where they kept drawing, a couple of those are wins and they’re in the top 6 and he’s met his objective. Fine margins to be fair.

He favours a passing style of game, which reminds me of Poyet/Mowbray, something our players are suited to more than Beale/Dodds favouring a sit deep and counter tactic.

We’ve already spoken about their squad, and Delap wasn’t even mentioned in their best Xl. Nor was Zaroury.

Seri is better than any of our midfielders, including Neil imo. Seri, Tufan, Philogene, Greaves, Giles, Carvalho all walk into our squad. Morton is a player. Slater is decent.

No, they didn't spend a fortune, they were all loan deals. You're skipping out the fact he still took them to 7th, which is an achievement. Hull were mid-table to relegation candidates for years

Tufan was not regarded as a decent player until this season, i'd argue rosenior got the best out of a lot of these players you're mentioning

I don't understand how you're managing to twist what rosenior has done at hull into a negative. No matter what way you look at it to get a team from 21st at one point to 7th in a year and a half while getting the best out of a lot of players and being a great man-manager is a very good impression to me.

He wants to be negative. Just leave him be as no argument will make him see sense.

You could offer similar insight to any of the top 9 compared to our squad mind. Each of those probs have half of their best 11 (at least) walk into ours too.

Win ratios are useful but you have to be able to abstract them contextually. A 80% win ratio sounds great until you find it is with Rangers or Celtic and you're beating Falkirk/Livingston/Dundee/Hamilton etc most weeks.

Also, if a tenure is shorter and the form is good, that data needs to be put into context against a coach who has managed for longer periods where they have went through good and bad form.

Beale had a short tenure at QPR and did okay before being signed by Rangers, that's a very small pool of data. Rosenior on the other hands has two seasons worth of data, a slow build that finishes in 7th place in the Championship. He is definitely not the finished article nor is he blowing peoples minds with the though of his appointment. All things considered, yes I would say Rosenior is a better coach than Beale in terms of being able to have a go at pushing us into a top-6 spot next season.

He didn’t get nearly the best out of Giles or Zaroury. Their performance levels were poor compared to what they’d shown previously in the division.

Im not being negative I’m just asking a simple question of what people are basing their assumption that he’s a good manager on because most of you have done exactly the same with Still, Wicky and Jansen earlier in the thread before changing your minds when it was revealed they aren’t coming and now it’s the same with Rosenior.

If someone argues that he’s done X, Y and Z that’s spot on but the other side can also have a counter argument. That’s the point of a discussion not “he’s good cos I said so and I read it on twitter right”

I don’t think he’s being negative, he’s raising good, well reasoned points in a civil manner. It’s completely different to the flouncing and negativity for negativity’s sake that we see elsewhere.

    Why shut down any discussion?

It's possible to like all the names you mentioned there, which I have, when it was announced that Jansen and Rosenior were the final two I did a deep dive into Rosenior and I was quite close to preferring him over Jansen. He's a good coach and will only get better with time which is a great thing to have (a manager with time to improve). Also after what our squad has been a part of last season we could really do with some good man-management skills too
