He will still have connections at Burnley. A bit like when we signed Pope. Don’t get me wrong. If you look back in this thread I said he would be a good signing.
It wasn't me... I just pointed out that players not being there at the time a manager was doesn't matter.
So we need to raise 30-50m, so what can we actually spend then? Also any news on when the financial rules may change in relation to FFP?
I admit. It’s an assumption. But I don’t really care because if we sign him he’s a future England number 1 under the right man to develop him.
I'd prefer us to upgrade Pope, Howe thinks Pope should remain number 1, that's all there is to it. Think it's another error from the manager because he has his favourites and Pope's one. I also don't think English goalkeepers are very good. Trafford is another that can't play from the back, is a bit rash and makes mistakes. Pope Jr. Only one club at the top end of the PL has an English GK, and he's their backup. I just think this middling, muddling along stuff needs to change at some point, but it'll have to be a manager change first. Let's see what the rest of the window brings, but if we're linked with Trafford, Kelly, Coady, James and Iheanacho then I have huge doubts about the ambition.
Laughably, with Kelly in particular, I'm told "the window isn't open yet". Wolves announced a Portuguese U-21 winger signing today (£20m), West Ham have announced the signing of a Brazilian midfielder (£30m). It's mental how ****ing slow we are, given what our lofty ambitions are supposed to be.
Not slow mate. We can’t do it. We can’t do anything until after 30 June. I am convinced we are on the line of FRP and that we can buy big roll until we get past 30th June.
Trying to type at work so as not to get caught causes spelling mistakes. can’t buy bog roll was what it was meant to say.
Because you believe it, doesn't make it certain fact lol. I'd say it's highly likely that that is not all there is to it, as it seems almost certain that financial restrictions are informing our decisions more than whether Howe likes his mates too much and prefers an English goalkeeper.
So the consortium that is buying Everton had a Saudi royal backer. Be interesting to see how long this takeover takes then.
What will be interesting is the fact nobody will complain about it... then when it doesn't happen they'll get back to it. I don't think there's as much interest as they're making out either. It's the oldest trick in the book and the media love riding these takeover stories these days.
