Nice to see Queensland assert their dominance in game 1 of this year's State of Origin series - a 38-10 victory in Sydney. Thanks to a poorly planned dental appointment I missed the last ten minutes - and two Queensland tries though. I'm sure that the NSW players are happy know that I was sharing their pain...
There's surprises, To be fair: there are surprises; there are upsets; and there is this! I know Pakistan can be fragile, but, well, blimey!
A couple more surprise results - Afghanistan beating New Zealand quite comprehensively by 84 runs, and Bangladesh beating Sri Lanka by two wickets. Thankfully I'm not a betting man - would have lost both of those..
Uganda back down to earth with a large bump after their T20 win the other day - 39 all out against the Windies for a 134 run defeat.
Won't do England any good - they'll probably lose against Namibia before that. And there's rain forecast for their match against Oman - if that gets abandoned it's all over.
Close match between Bangladesh and South Africa with SA winning by 4 runs. What looked like a winning 6 for Bangladesh from the penultimate ball turned into a super catch on the boundary, leaving them needing 6 from the last ball - which they couldn't manage.
Yes a few good close games recently and batting isn’t easy . Apparently some controversy over an umpire decision or two which potentially cost the Tigers key runs.
Didn't notice any but wouldn't be surprised. There were a couple of contentious umpire decisions in the Scotland v Oman game yesterday - twice an Oman batsman stepped away from his crease just as the bowler bowled - should have been given out bowled both times but the umpire ruled in his favour. Made no difference to the result but if it had, there'd have been a few angry Scots buzzing around that umpire.
Apparently there was an LBW given which wasn’t so got overturned and the ball had gone for a boundary but couldn’t give the 4 runs .
There'll be rumblings of discontent in the antipodes after NZ's loss to the Windies in T20. Pointless and bottom of the group, they have to hope for a miracle to have any hope of progressing - that miracle being PNG beating Afghanistan. I would never have predicted them failing to progress from a group with PNG and Uganda.
