The track will rubber in after rain. Russell will crash in any rain that comes anyway. Maccas will be better on their tyres than Russell and the brat and sail by unopposed. Piastri will be made pull over for norris.
Hamilton will struggle, can't believe Ferrari have signed him, he's worse now then Schumacher comeback.
This is a better example of a jinx, but one that is cast on oneself that has a fair probability of making one look like a mug.
That is so true, the only reason Russell beat the brat was because of the tow Russell had from Albon. The times were identical anyway, just that the Merc posted first. So I think Lewis was as quick as George in reality
How utterly wonderful to watch Daniel Ricciardo shove a big fat **** you down the throat of that horrid bitter little prick that is Jacques Villeneuve. Made hay in two incredible Williams cars and then did the square root of **** all in every car afterwards, yet he has temerity to publicly go at Ricciardo like that. Absolute bellend. What are the gen Z fans gonna say this week then? Ricciardo now back in the frame for Red Bull? Sainz and Le Clerc belong at Haas? George Russell the second coming of Fangio? Can you tell I’m not a fan of this write them off or build them up future based on one result? The instant gratification generation we are, and it’s sickening to watch at times. Man I sound old.
unfortunately, as dislikeable as I find Villeneuve a lot of the time, some of what he is saying about Ricciardo is true. Where he is wrong is saying that Daniel beat a burnt out Vettel. No he didn’t. Vettel was coming off his 4th world Championship and then the rules changed and the double diffuser was removed. Vettel had difficulty adapter his driving style to that, Daniel didn’t. Daniel’s only real chance of challenging for a world title would have been becoming team mate of Lewis instead of Bottas.
Thanks for this, really interesting that they were dead level at the hairpin, maybe without the tow Max would have pulled away in the final sector, but it doesn’t look like it had a massive effect.
Lewis was never the greatest qualifier, often beaten by Nico. The field is so close now, 0.25 of a second is the difference that covers 7 to 8 cars. Is it mojo issues or age, probably both, that is putting Lewis in the shade. Lets not foget, Jenson could beat Lewis. That said, Merc are now favouring George. Lewis needs to set himself a target that maintains self respect and beat George this season. If he does I will be convinced he still has it.
haha, true, it's the times we live in, 40 years ago I'd sit and wait 30 mins for a game to load, which would crash 60% of the time, now a 10 second delay and I'm "WTF, why is it so ****ing sloow?"
Can someone link the full Villeneuve content - I’ve only seen snipped quotes that all look reasonable “5 years of under performance”, “not sure what he’s still doing in F1”. I don’t actively like Ricciardo, the way some seem to - but I don’t dislike him either. I do think some of his quotes after yesterday are telling - if true, rather than just wanting to give a reason that isn’t Villeneuve for his motivation and step up in performance: it took the Monaco weekend for him to step back and look at what was happening off track…? If that’s really the case, then the carrot of a RedBull drive slipping through his fingers over the last year wasn’t enough, Perez getting announced as being retained wasn’t a wake-up call…? That does suggest that there is something of “making up the numbers” about his presence in F1.
I called this out in the other thread - where’s a shred of evidence that Merc are favouring George? It’s hard to know how much credit he deserves for beating Hamilton’s current level of performance, but let’s not diminish his performance further by implying unfair advantage without evidence…
Lewis supported upgrades being given to George in Monaco, there being only one set available. He did caveat saying they should alternate the drivers for upgrades throughout the season. Will wait to see.
I'm going to predict thst as the track rubbers in the merc will go backwards all day and the ferrari will slowly move forwards (it is narrow after all) I expect st least 1 safety car here as well. Norris will win imo and will win by going forwards for longer and go harder than the brat. My ideal here is Russel does a Russell and takes himself and the brat out on lap 2 but tjst would make for a dull race. You can clearly see I simply do not rate Russell at all. Between the weaving and the mistakes I just don't think he has half the talent he thinks he has.
There was just one wing, Hamilton didn’t want it because there was a risk that breaking it in qualifying, would mean starting from the back because of a change in spec. Are you suggesting it was kind of him to let the team give it to George, get some data on it and benefit from the benefits of all their hard work - even though it would mean things weren’t totally equal for him?! Leaving that aside - they both have it (and equal cars overall) here in Canada, so using a no longer relevant point to diminish George’s performance in qualifying yesterday seems pretty disingenuous.
I think it’s going to be either partly wet, wet or very wet, so we’ve got a fair chance of a lottery result. I do agree that the Merc still looks weak on traction, so there’s a good chance they’ll burn through their rears if it is dry opening the door for Max and Lando - it would be good to see them actually fight for the win, we’ve got close a few times, but an actual on track battle hasn’t quite manifested yet. I think it’s premature to judge George yet. I think we’ll need until next year when we see where Hamilton stacks up against Leclerc, before we can really judge.
I wasn't having a go at George. As much as anything I was voicing what I believe to be human nature. I wouldn't blame merc for working more closely with George, if in fact they are. Lewis is not their future, George is. In season developments should be to the preference of George, no doubt. If they are not then Merc are not doing their job. George is a good fast driver, it is what I would do.
