Just like Corbyn was the Tories greatest ally in the last election, Sunak seems to be returning the favour to Starmer. It’s like he’s had enough and wants to go.
HALFWAY THROUGH THE DEBATE .... NONE OF THEM actually make any sense .......BUT........... 2 things so far ... a good PM?..... Penny Mordaunt as a runner up .... well Mr Farage, keeps a cool head and knows his stuff! Waste of time is the Plaid Cymru big gob ... on a hiding to nothing ... Stephen Flynn batting against the wind HEALTH SECURITY MIGRATION ... the others just make weights
Look at the polls on the debate -here you go Farage Triumphs in BBC Debate, Leads Polls Last updated 1 hour ago Nigel Farage, leader of the Reform UK party, emerged as the winner of a seven-party BBC debate, according to viewer polls conducted by More in Common and The Telegraph. Despite facing a perceived biased audience, Farage's performance resonated with viewers, securing him a significant lead over other participants. The debate highlighted Farage's critique of the Conservative party's tax policies and his stance on immigration, sparking discussions about the potential rise of the Reform Party in the upcoming general election.
I don’t like a lot of Farage’s policies but I do admire his straight talking. It won’t make me vote for him - I think his policies are unworkable - but he says it like he sees it and doesn’t wriggle and dodge questions, which all the others do - and I admire him for that. For me it’s a case of ‘respecting my foe’
He talks straight, I guess, the problem is most of what he says is nonsense. Things are rarely as straightforward as he suggests. He doesn’t see the downside of his policies. There are always downsides to any policy, closing your eyes to them isn’t going to work. He appeals to a narrow section of society only, which will be an issue.
bit of a round robin this post Ashton! ................... doesn’t see the downside of his policies. There are always downsides to any policy, applies to all parties!
Disagree, the main parties don’t suggest things will be straight forward, both say there are downsides but they believe their way is the better way. He’s very one dimensional, pretty much stop all immigration and everything will be fine, that’s far too simplistic, the problems are much more nuanced than that. One you start to dig a bit deeper you can see the flaws
That’s nonsense, even as a % of immigration they are a really small %, legal immigration is much higher. Of course we need to sort it out and stop it, but let’s not exaggerate the problem.
come 0n Ashton be realistic with your figures give it balance ..the legal ones dont give us as much monetary loss as the illegal's ..£6m a day just for accomodation thats £2.2bn pa or £5 a month for every tax payer [ then add on all the other bits and bobs they claim and you are looking at over £10 a month closer to £12... then add on the staff and buildings and heating etc etc to process or rescue them and you are looking closely at £25 -£30 pm. At least most of the "legal" ones offset some of their costs with relatives being allowed!
For context Legal immigration 685,000 Ilegal immigration around 40,000 Of course it’s a vile industry that only serves the trafficers, my point was the number of legal migrants dwarves illegal ones. Even you can’t dispute that John. Putting to one side the costs in terms of £’s for now. The point that immigration takes our jobs, clogs up our services, puts pressure on housing etc, plainly legal migration has far more of an impact than illegal. Again surely you can’t argue with that. I’m not disputing the £’s costs of ilegal is far too high. But, it has gone up many fold during this government’s time in power, maybe they need to take responsibility for it. Plainly the biggest issue is around how long it takes to process them. If we could process them quickly, send any that fail back whence they came, with a one way ticket, whilst incorporating the others efficiently would be a start. Obviously the figures are too high, and something needs to be done I just don’t see sending them to a dubious third country without even processing them is the answer.
Germany and several other European countries are now following the UKs lead and are exploring sending illegals to a third country Let’s hope their legal systems make it easier to get rid of these people than ours does It’s a burden on our country and services we don’t need
