Think it’s from an American Soldier during the Afghanistan conflict.

See the French did us proud , went on strike at the Channel fir the 80 year anniversary for effect - no thought to the sacrifice we made to free them - and you wonder why we become belligerent British , many of the Eu countries have v short memories .

They did at least only strike in Calais, so that the Dunkirk Ferry could run unaffected (as did Eurotunnel).

Like him or not this is an emotional rendition from Tom Jones at the D Day commemorations. An impressive performance from a bloke who was 84 the day after.

Also why they have better wages, better pensions and better working conditions in most industrial sectors. There would be no point striking on a day that was convenient for everybody.

Anybody who agrees with their actions on this particular day is sadly wrong.

I don't agree or disagree. I don't have strong opinions on their actions or good knowledge of the reasons for the action.

I do know that in most industrial sectors, they have better pay, working conditions and pensions than the UK, probably as a result of their collective industrial action over the years since WW2.

The average wage is pretty much the same as ours, their pensions are better, but their unemployment rate is double ours. Swings and roundabouts.

So the 80 year commemoration means nothing to you ? Have you thought that the France they are in might not have been that way had we not fought to free them ? What I highlighted was the insensitivity to the occasion which I think stinks , they do what they want and are classless with it . Occasionally there are bigger things to reflect and consider than just money .

    mate
a protest or a strike on a day that doesnt matter is not a ****ing protest is it

you have to do it on a day that causes inconvenience, thats the whole point

and yes france knows, france lost more in ww1 and ww2 than any other european country

or do we need to talk about how more amercian troops died in dday than brits?
    its not a competition
