Exciting isn't it Bob, just like 'Britain's Got Talent' ... ... then the winner turns out to be someone from Europe
I really don’t see that in him. I remember seeing a game away- possibly the Stewart comeback game, maybe the Embleton injury game (was that the same ?) unless I’m getting mixed up where they had a really well coached slick system, attack one side, ball into centre mid, turn and hit the opposite attacking full back who at times was the most advanced player, stretched us no end. Their players weren’t the best quality to make the best of it but it was so well coached and different. I think Rosenior is the something different.
Have to say I have been completely taken aback by comments about being tired of British coaches and the same old ones getting trotted out. I see no reason to think an overseas coach represents anything more exciting to be honest. I would sooner judge on their ability to fit with our squad and produce a style of play that entertains. Rosenior cant be compared to Bruce in my opinion. He is a young coach, learning his trade, but with a deal of early success. Be turned Hull round completely. I wonder why folk are enchanted by overseas coaches so much without being the same about British coaches. There is still a good number of British managers in the premier league. 2 of 3 promoted coaches last were young and English. There are some outstanding young English coaches on the way up. The job Mousinho has done at Portsmouth is brilliant. I could name more. I dont see any of these as the same old tired british coaches at all. If we were touting Bruce or Pulis, fair enough, but we arent.
I think it's because most British coaches seem to have a ceiling I'd like us to get above. I'm also tired of the language they use and the endless clichés they spout in interviews. That's all really, I'm not totally against them or smitten by foreigners ... ... btw, Bruce was promoted with Hull so there must be some comparison.
I’ve got a meeting all day Thursday. Any chance you can get them to delay it until Friday or the Monday after?
I definitely see your point of view. Shouldn't be the case that foreign is automatically better. That said, we do have a sizeable contingent of foreign players and the language thing is a factor that is worth considering. Luckily, in my opinion, A.I. is about to make the language barrier completely redundant. I can see a day in the very, very near future where broad Geordie's and Yorkshiremen bark out their instructions in english and it's instantly translated via an earpiece into whatever that players native language is. It's actually possible now.
Better if they can delay it till the season starts this thread will keep us entertained till then, its been brilliant
My impression of Rosenior when he has been a pundit on TV is someone who is intelligent, full of common sense and free from cliche, kind of the opposite of Little Lee Johnson and more of the 'down to earth' Alex Neil type. He took Hull from 4th bottom when he arrived to mid table and then on to 7th last year, He did well at Derby as well. I feel he's a young English coach who will get better and better and would be a great fit for us. He also had a great playing career which will get immediate respect from the players. While Jansen may be a more intriguing appointment as he is more of an unknown I think I'd have a preference for Rosenior. I liked his Dad as well, big Leroy - an old style CF.
Yeah he's kept me updated throughout but he never says where he gets the info from so they can't be dropped in it, and I never ask, but put 2+2 together when I saw your post. Aye I'm fine thanks, hope you are too.
No basis to say this.. but my gut feeling is Rosenior. Not for or against.. just a hunch I think it’s him
Number 11 (Karlsson) has already been sold to Bologna for like 12 mil past summer. Not been involved much due to injury there. For sure been the most exciting player to watch in a long time. Scored some insane longshots Number 9 (Pavlidis) is arguably the best player in the league. Carrying the whole team this season with 39! goal contributions. Soon to be sold for 25 mil. And Odgaard (7) has been wasted as right winger (same with Gudmundsson) to eventually also get snatched up by Bologna. Had potential, but with Pavlidis as 9 and Jansen's preference for a working 10 he never got the central role he needed. In recent years guys like vanEwijk, Flemming and Hamer have been succesfull in the championship. If Sunderland wants to look at the eredivisie. You should look at players like Rommens, Lauritsen, Parrott, Driouech, Willumsson, Haye, Eerdhuijzen, Joris Kramer.
