Mick Lynch, as General Secretary of the RMT, doesn't represent train drivers, most of whom are members of ASLEF.

The mad thing is we watch it and accept it. When someone points out maybe the spoils could go to those who need it, the country spazzies out.

We are collectively, utterly servile and I blame our belief that because someone is rich they are smarter and deserve what they've effectively leeched from the rest of us

The irony is that it was the privatisation model that jacked up train drivers' basic salaries for the last 30 years by creating artificial, inefficient, internal markets within the industry for their services. It takes up to 18 months to fully train up a train driver (slightly less if they're recruited from being conductors). Those talking of automated driverless trains (yes, they're coming) should be aware that if they were to be introduced on the infrastructure as it is now would cost anywhere up to £100bn - there's better technology to fly pilotless planes than driverless trains atm. Yes, driverless trains will happen one day, but I wouldn't want to get on a train without a conductor with the tech that's in use nowadays, let alone a driverless one.

Not sure how the argument is political anyway, as Mick Lynch, whose union by and large doesn't represent train drivers, is head of a union that isn't even affiliated with the Labour Party and hasn't been for decades.

And an RMT that isn't even affiliated with the Labour Party. This is like dealing with a lazy, shyster Daily Mail journalist - or one of their lazy, dumb, forelock-tugging readers, as the case may be.

And if a worker takes the only action he can by withdrawing their labour they are automatically card carrying members of the Communist party and their leadership is the Politburo.

Best just doff your cap and know your place.

The situation many find themselves in today is largely the result of trades unions having too little power, not too much.

Not to mention Tory and Labour spivs selling off everything that isn't nailed down over the last few decades.

State owned is very very bad they told you, who happened to actually be the state.

Unite, Labour's biggest trade union backer, has refused to endorse the party's general election manifesto, saying it does not go far enough on protecting workers' rights and jobs in the oil and gas industry.

Union leaders were at a meeting on Friday to finalise the party's 2024 election platform ahead of its launch next week.

How any modern day union can endorse/finance the current mob calling themselves the Labour Party is beyond me.

When the Labour leadership doesn't back workers then the workers should tell them to fùck right off.

The problem has always been the Union Leaders. Self serving ****stains that don't give a flying **** about the workers.

Neil Kinnock told them as much plainly in that wonderful Conference speech.

There are some like that Drew. I've met a few but there are also excellent union leaders.

    Jimmy Hoffa for example.
